SUMMER PROJECT
INSTRUCTIONS TO ALL FIRST YEAR STUDENTS OF PGDM 2012-2014.
1. The Summer project for the first year students of PGDM will commence from
2nd April and will end on 12th June, 2013.
2. Students are required to prepare the project proposal and submit to
respective organizations by 11th April 2013.
3. A copy of the proposal of the project as per the format given in Annexure – I
and approved by the Company must be submitted to Faculty Guide by 16th
April 2013. Formulation of the proposal, its timely submission and
execution of work according to the plan form a part of evaluation of the
project. The Summer Project Work plan is enclosed in Annexure - II.
4. Each student shall submit two progress reports to the respective Faculty
Guide (See Annexure - II), first report by 1st May 2013 and second report by
23rd May 2013.
5. A satisfactory completion certificate should be obtained from the Company.
6. After completion of the project, two copies of the report should be submitted
to PGP Office by 29th June 2013.
7. The Summer Project Presentation will be scheduled during July 01 – 06,
2013. Each student will give a power point presentation for 20 minutes
before an Examination Committee (2-3 Faculty Experts). Grading will be
jointly decided by the Guide and the Examiners.
8. While working with the organization for the project work, students will be
governed by the rules and regulations of the host organization in regard to
attendance/discipline/safety and related matters. Any irregularity will be
viewed strongly.
9. The delay in submission of reports will influence the Grades. It may please
be noted that the Company's copy is to be submitted by the student
personally to the company and they must hand over the acknowledgement
received from the Company to the PGP Office.

PROPOSAL FOR SUMMER PROJECT – A FORMAT
The proposal should bear the name of the student and Faculty Guide.
Guidelines for the proposal are given below:
1. BACKGROUND
♦ Company/Business Unit Profile where the Project is to be carried out.
♦ Need and significance of the project work.
2. PROBLEM DEFINITION
♦ Objective, Scope & Methodology of the study.
3. ACADEMIC SCOPE
♦ Management techniques/Methodologies likely to be used.
♦ Functional Areas/Subjects expected to be spanned by the project
assignment.
4. WORK PLAN
♦ Identify distinguishable stages/milestones.
♦ Assess work involved in each stage and set the target completion dates.
