This was a sermon I preached last March 26, 2017 at CWC (Christ's Way Community) Eastwood City. This is based on the 1 Samuel 17 account of David and Goliath.
How a person handles failure can mean the difference between living a life of victory or living a life filled with bitterness, hostility and anger. "Turning Failures into Faith" is a sermon that looks into a passage in the Bible where the Israelites failed during the time of Joshua but because they turned to God for faith they became victorious once again.
Goliath, a mountain of a giant, and the Philistine army confront Israel's army. King Saul and the Israelite army are paralyzed with fear. "Out of nowhere" a young David appears on the scene. David sees what nobody else sees. He volunteers to take on Goliath in a winner-take-all battle for the fate of the nation.

I Samuel 17, 18 describe David's confrontation with Goliath and its aftermath. What can we learn from his example when we feel stuck in the face of the "impossible"?
What do the names Amorite, Makkedah and Joshua mean? How do these meanings apply to you? Why did the 5 kings hide in a cave while their armies were fighting and dying on the battlefield? What did Joshua do when their hideout was discovered? Why?
What happened to the kings when the battle was over, and Joshua had defeated their armies? Can you name five “kings” you are battling? They may be very personal: spiritually, mentally, emotionally or behaviorally. They may be in your family, or at work or school, or in your social life, or in your church.

King Saul dies, and David finally becomes king over Judah, but not of all Israel. In his experience, we can see that "success" is enjoyable, but also provides us with a test! Will we loosen our morals? Will we try to "coast" with God? Will we set ourselves up for future catastrophes?

The patient is no longer patient. Presentation of Christophe Jauquet (Business Director Health & Medical, InSites Consulting) at the European Health Insurance Conference in Berlin on Friday 23 March, 2017.
Hi
My name is Valerii Iavtushenko, Im an engineer and interpreter for the last 16 years.
Since 2008 my main interest was in analyzing influence IT and social media on society.
Than main event in Ukraine social life happened.
Maidan – Revolution of Dignity
I packed my bag and went on Maidan. For three month.
This is the main core of Revolution. As you see there is no cosy houses, no water, no toilets, no kitchen. Just plane concrete basement.
In first week we build our new home. God, self-organization and hope helped us.
We stood against gunned man, weather, hunger, fake news for our rights and freedom.
We have only social networks, social media and feeling that we doing it right together. We constantly exchanged food, wear and information. So effective, that we stayed for 3 month and win first battle.
How its possible? And how it worked?
If I needed something – I just posted advertisement about needs on my tent or in social network. And after a while I got what I needed from inside or outside Maidan.
Why? Because I did something important for people around when someone needed my help.
Now I will share with you main experience – shared economy works for defending us in hardest situations!
Confirmed by Maidan!
So, after Maidan I started thinking about some possibility to bring such level interaction, as Ukraine experienced in time of Revolution of Dignity on hight scale and help my country and the world.
How we can use this to stand against climate changes, hunger and poverty?
We actually live in time of abundance – we have resources, we have technologies, we have educated people, good transportation.
All off us have some ideas, desires and projects. At the same time we have some unused free resources, tools and parts that just standing idle on our backyard.
We need only one component – a system that combines the idea of one person with free unused resource of another.
I thought about new resource sharing system where we can co-planing and co-building projects together in real time.
Then spread request for the parts of this projects in social network. System will bring people and resources together via hashtags and messages.
So, I want to connect in this system google maps, blockchain, object oriented principles of programming and neural network.
Benefit
Prevents pollution caused by reducing the need to harvest new raw materials
Saves energy
Reduces greenhouse gas emissions
Helps sustain the environment for future generations
Saves money
Reduces the amount of waste that will need to be recycled or sent to landfills and incinerators
Allows products to be used to their fullest extent
People of Ukraine give humanity the example of self-organization and support each other in the face of threats.
My mission is - to create a technical solution based on these principles, so help me with your resources and information to create it.

Have you ever needed strength, courage, or boldness to face your fears, trials, or the approaching enemy? It is easy to get overwhelmed by the things in this life that you cannot control. It is a fact that through this life we will have trials of many kinds that remain outside our control but we do not have to be afraid nor do we have to live in defeat because the Lord has given us a Spirit of Courage not of Fear. God promises that victory is found not by relying on the strength of man or the power of human will rather it is found through this power, provision, and protection. It through the Lord alone that you become UNSHAKABLE in the midst of Changing Times! Based on 1 Samuel 17 the audio portion of this message available at www.stevegedon.com
Why was the battle stalled 40 days (17:16)? Why didn’t Goliath or Saul’s army attack earlier? How does this apply to us? Why did David reject Saul’s armor (17:39)? If Goliath was such an intimidating giant then why did he wear so much armor? David asked “Is there not a cause?” (29) What “causes” confront us as Christians that demand us to engage the enemy? How had David’s experience as a shepherd prepared him to face Goliath? How has God prepared you to defeat your giants?
Identify a giant in your life. What lessons have you learned from David & Goliath that give you a strategy for defeating your giant?
40 Days and 40 Nights_Jesus our ChampionStephen Palm
We have seen that one of the greatest weaknesses of God’s people is that they consistently feared giants. They feared entering the Promised Land because it was filled with giants. And in 1 Samuel we see that their descendants are paralyzed for 40 days and 40 nights as a giant named Goliath, taunted God’s people and extinguished their faith in God’s might, until a young man, the runt of his father’s litter, came with the heart of Joshua and Caleb. Where others saw a 9-foot colossus of a man, David saw an uncircumcised Philistine not deserving of having his name mentioned. David becomes Israel’s champion and slays Goliath. 1000 years later, David’s direct descendant, Jesus, came to slay the Goliath of our sin. Whereas David used the unlikely weapon of a sling and 5 smooth stones, Jesus wielded an even more unlikely weapon. He slayed our sin wielding a rugged cross upon which he died. But he became more than a martyr. He rose from the dead and became God’s champion who defeated both sin and death.

This message discusses the following:
1. Who the Holy Spirit is
2. How important the Holy Spirit is in a believer's life
3. What the Holy Spirit does
4. How to create space for the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives as believers
This was a sermon I preached last April 9, 2017 at CWC (Christ's Way Community) Eastwood City. This is based on 1 Samuel 18-21, the period of David's life when his life was being threatened to be taken away by King Saul.
This message helps identify usual "crutches" that believers lean on when experiencing pains and disappointments. Three warning against "crutches" are also given.
"The good news is Jesus wants to deepen His communion with us through sharing in our pain, losses and suffering."

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.
