This map depicts changes in surface water areas from 2004-2016 due to beaver activity on a parcel of land. Aerial imagery from 2016 shows approximately 26,390 square feet (0.6 acres) of standing surface water, an increase of over 20,000 square feet from the previous year, due to beavers building a 140-foot-long dam across a seasonal river. In addition to the main pond created by the dam, there are four smaller ponds downstream. Between 2004 and 2015, there was only a single pond in the field fluctuating between 5,689 and 6,545 square feet, but beaver damming activity has significantly increased the surface water area.
