George Eastman founded the Eastman Kodak Company and invented roll film, which helped make photography more popular. He registered "Kodak" as a trademark in 1888 and invented the name out of thin air. Eastman was a modest, unassuming man who was an inventor, marketer, global visionary, philanthropist, and champion of inclusion. Plagued by a progressive disability, the 77-year-old Eastman took his own life on March 14, 1932 after becoming frustrated by his inability to maintain an active life.
