Dear Hiring Manager,
My name is Kaila Wilson and I am a senior in Biological Engineering with an emphasis in
biochemistry here at Kansas State University. It is with great pleasure that I submit my resume
for a summer 2015 internship and/or Co-Op. As a multifaceted candidate, enthralled with
enhancing my abilities and talents, I know that my wide range of experience as stated in my
resume will make me an asset to your company.
As you will see from the attached resume, I have consolidated my experience from a variety of
leadership roles in engineering organizations and companies. From engineering outreach
programs that require that I expand my comfort zone in and outside of my field of study, to
serving as a liaison between my employers and their clients; I thrive in environments that can
cultivate my creativity and strengths while challenging me to enhance my potential weaknesses.
In addition to my interpersonal skills, I have also assisted in research and lab-work in the fields
of algal biofuels, pathogenic microbiology, and pollution prevention & environment
sustainability methods. My scope of interests does not stop there but expands to fields that study
neuroscience, immunology and medicine, GMO’s, and in particular genetic engineering that
pertains to hair.
Lastly, I would like to give your company insight on who I am outside of my educational
pursuits. I am a firm believer in constant personal development, servant leadership, and having a
continuous expansion of knowledge, in which I pursue on the daily basis. In regards to personal
development, in order for me to attain my goals, I believe that by constantly working on
bettering myself and being open to learning new skills, taking constructive criticism well,
working well with others, and leading by example allows me to represent key aspects of a leader.
Servant leadership is one of the key factors that I believe is essential for any company to
flourish; and as such, this aspect allows me to put the needs of others before myself when
necessary, therefore not only rising to top but bringing others to the top as well. Finally, by
constantly having a desire to expand my knowledge not only allows me to be more aware of my
surroundings including helpful resources, teams, and organizations, but also makes my once
limited options, become limitless. These three aspects that I possess, in my opinion will serve as
an asset to your company.
After graduation, I am very open to all future entry-level job possibilities and excited to see what
opportunities I can obtain by the privilege of being a part of your legacy. I personally feel that
my personality of being assertive, resilient, and optimistic will undoubtedly be put to good use in
this company in regards of educational expansion, applied engineering as referred in my
collegiate courses, and overall, a great experience. In the near future, I will follow up with you to
discuss opportunities and please feel free to contact me via phone or email.
Thank you for your time and consideration,
