Vomiting
Description:
The major concern when a child is vomiting are
the risk of dehydration, the loss of fliud and
electrolytes, and the development of
metabolic alkalosis.
Causes:
Acute infectious disorder, increased
intracranial pressure, food intolerance,
metabolic disorder.

1. character vomitus
2. signs of dehydration
3.signs of fluid and electrolyte
imbalances
4. signs of aspiration
5. signs of metabolic alkalosis
Interventions:
a) maintain patent airway
b)position the child to prevent
aspiration
c) monitor vital signs
d) assess the force of vomiting
e)Monitor intake- output
f) Provide oral rehydration therapy
g) Monitor for signs of dehydration
