Gabon is a country located in Western Africa on the Atlantic Ocean coast, bordered by Equatorial Guinea and the Republic of Congo. It has a population of around 1.5 million people and its capital and largest city is Libreville. Gabon has a diverse economy based around its natural resources of petroleum, natural gas, uranium, gold and timber. French is the main language and Christianity is the dominant religion, though Islam and traditional beliefs are also present.

• President Obama met on Thursday June 9th of
2011 with president of Gabon, Ali Bongo
Ondimba, at the White House.
• They discussed the accusations that the West
African leader did human rights violations.
