Wikipedia and companies, explained, by Lennart Guldbrandsson, uncommentedLennart Guldbrandsson
It's not impossible for companies to work well with Wikipedia - just unlikely. Here's why, and how to overcome the problems. PR professionals and companies often want to work with Wikipedia, but don't know how to do it. This is based on a presentation I did at KWD Webranking awards in January, 2014, Stockholm, Sweden. Filmed version will be added as soon as it's published by KW Digital. Please help spread this message. (Uncommented version. Wikipedia is a collaboratively edited, free online encyclopedia with over 12 million articles written by 15 million volunteers in over 250 languages. It is the 4th most popular website globally and receives 20-45,000 page views per second. Anyone can edit Wikipedia articles after clicking "edit" without needing to register. While Wikipedia aims to provide free access to all human knowledge, companies can have their Wikipedia articles improved by contacting Wikipedia administrators if errors are found or by learning how to edit articles themselves according to Wikipedia's processes and guidelines.
This document discusses Wikipedia and companies. It begins with a Rudyard Kipling quote about the six questions of what, where, when, how, why and who. It then addresses each of these questions in relation to engaging with and contributing to Wikipedia. It provides statistics on Wikipedia usage over time. It explains that the Wikipedia community is diverse, though a small percentage of readers actively edit. It outlines guidelines and policies for neutral and unbiased contributions. It offers tips for positively engaging with and improving Wikipedia articles.

* det behövs bra listor att utgå ifrån
* man kan göra mycket med en liten kärntrupp
* det får inte finnas juridiska oklarheter
* det är lite tekniskt utmanande
