Walmart retained the top spot on the Fortune 500 list of top retailers for 2015, generating $482.1 billion in revenue. Exxon Mobil held the second spot with $246.2 billion in revenue from oil and gas. Apple came in third generating $233.7 billion despite not yet entering the automobile market. Berkshire Hathaway ranked fourth with $210.8 billion in revenue and ownership of companies like GEICO, Dairy Queen, and Kraft Heinz.

2. 1. WALMART
Walmart has retained its top spot on the list this year with a total revenue in 2015 of
$482.1 billion. They are also holding a top spot among online retailers. Walmart is the
second largest online retailer in the U.S. after Amazon. Walmart has held strong, with
2,300,000 employees, they have remained on this Fortune 500 list for 22 years.

3. 2. EXXON MOBIL
Exxon Mobil holds spot number 2 on this years list with a revenue
in 2015 of $246.2 billion. Exxon Mobil is the largest publicly traded
oil and gas company.

4. 3. APPLE
Number three on this year’s list is the most profitable publicly-traded company in the world.
Bringing in $233.7 billion in revenue in 2015, we are sure to see Apple remain on this list for
years to come. We haven’t even seen them make the leap to the automobile market yet.
Word is, Apple will be putting out an electric masterpiece in a few more years.

5. 4. BERKSHIRE HATHAWAY
Number 4 on this year’s list brought in a revenue of $210.8 billion in 2015. Although
Berkshire Hathaway used to focus more on long-term investments in publicly traded
companies, you may be surprised to find out that more recently they have purchased whole
companies. Here are some, to name a few, GEICO, Dairy Queen, Fruit of the Loom, and 26%
of the Kraft Heinz Company. Berkshire Hathaway is the fifth largest public company in the
world.

6. 5. McKESSON
The largest U.S. pharmaceutical distributor sits at the number 5 spot this year.
2015 revenue for McKesson was $181.2 billion but that revenue is not
expected to stay strong. They could potentially lose another $13 billion in 2018
when (or if) Rite Aid is acquired by Walgreens.

7. 6. UNITEDHEALTH GROUP
Ranking number 6 this year is America’s largest health insurer, UnitedHealth.
Raking in $157.1 billion in 2015, UnitedHealth has more than 100 million
global customers. The company recently announced that it would be leaving
most of Obamacare’s statewide individual insurance marketplaces. But, they
are still growing their health platform with major investments like the $12.8
billion buyout of Catamaran.

8. 7. CVS HEALTH
CVS climbs up the ranks from last year’s number 10 spot and is now sitting at number 7 with
revenue at $153.3 billion. Although a little surprising since the company’s 2014 decision to
stop selling cigarettes. But they continue to move full steam ahead by taking over 1,700 in-
store drugstores from Target and starting an order pickup with tech startup Curbside this
year.

9. 8. GENERAL MOTORS
General Motors drives into the number 8 spot with a 2015 revenue of $152.4
billion. The historic brand is inching towards releasing its automated car,
something that could potentially change the game for GM and the auto
industry all together within the next decade.

10. 9. FORD MOTOR
2015 was Ford Motor’s best U.S. sales performance since 2006. Bringing in
$149.6 billion in revenue brought Ford Motor to the number 9 spot of the
Fortune 500 list. Be on the look out for their automated driving technology as
well to keep up with the increasing competition.

11. 10. AT&T
Number 10 on Fortune 500’s 2015 list goes to AT&T with a revenue of $146.8 billion. 2015
was a big year for AT&T. First, they spent almost $50 billion to acquire DirecTV. The purchase
ended up making AT&T one of the largest TV subscription services in the world with 26
million U.S. customers and 19 million overseas. They also acquired Nextel Mexico and Iusacell
for less than $5 billion.
