My take on the life, the business, the world
What growing up with Paul Ropp taught me
During my days living in Bali, 2 in every 3 strangers I passed on the street claimed to know me
because of one of my two, very well networked, parents. “HELLO!” cries the man across the
street. “You are Paul Ropp’s daughter. I know you! I know your father. Tell him I send my
regards! He is good yes?” I would get this at every corner. My parents were the reason random
strangers would approach me on the street to blabber about how they met my parents, and all
the stories in between. And there I am, with a plastered smile on my face nodding uncontrollably,
simply thinking to myself: “Who in the world is this person and why is he trying to talk to me?!” It
frustrated me to the core that I was known and approached just for being Paul Ropp or Susanna
Perini’s daughter. Yes! I AM their daughter. But you know what, I am me too, my name is
Sayang....Nice to meet me. :)
But I soon came to realize that being known as Paul Ropp’s daughter is something I am
extremely proud of. I am proud of my father for his accomplishments, for his strength, for his
courage, and for who he is. His profound strive and persistence in attaining his dreams, for going
for what he wants and how he wants it. My father’s extreme stubbornness, which he has most
definitely passed along to me, is what makes the Paul Ropp company brand so great. The Paul
Ropp image, would not be what it is today if my father nodded in agreement with any new
innovative idea that came to the table. His vision is far reached; it often seems unattainable at
first; but he will keep on pushing until what he thinks of is projected into reality. His vision is exotic
and brilliant. I was being approached by all these strangers because of exactly these points. My
father was known for the person he was and the things he was able to accomplish; I should have
seen earlier that the reason I was known as Paul Ropp’s daughter is because my father had
accomplished something great, that many other people could see, appreciate, and help promote.
The Paul Ropp franchise is his legacy  its the culmination of a well crafted frame of mind, exotic
creativity, high expectations, an eye for uniqueness, as well as both willingness and eagerness
to go over the top.
If growing up with my father in this business has taught me one thing, its that your reality and
actions are projected images of your state of mind and mental thought process. We are what we
think, and if we think and dream big we have the capacity to become that. There is always a way
to get to where we need to go, you just have to open your mind to find it... my father taught me
the most important lesson of individuality.
