A freelancer is self-employed and not committed long-term to a particular workplace. They sometimes work through firms or organizations that provide short-term work to customers, or operate independently using associations or websites. In British English, an independent contractor is the term used to designate the employment and tax classification of a freelancer. Freelancing is most common in creative fields and professions.
