Facebook is a social media platform headquartered in Menlo Park, California that was launched in 2004 by Mark Zuckerberg and fellow Harvard University students. Originally limited only to Harvard students, Facebook eventually expanded to other universities and then anyone 13 years old or older. Its name comes from physical face books that were traditionally given to students at American universities containing photos and profiles of other students.
