Yann Arthus-Bertrand is a French photographer, journalist, and environmentalist. He founded an aerial photography agency and took over 500,000 pictures in 100+ countries. In 1994, under a UNESCO-sponsored study of Earth, he photographed the world's most beautiful landscapes from helicopters and balloons. The book from this project, Earth from Above, sold over 3 million copies and was translated into 24 languages. In 2000, his free "Earth from Above" exhibition displayed large posters of his photos in 110 cities worldwide, visited by 120 million people.
