Implementing ‘Namebers’ Using Microchip Implants: The Black Box Beneath The SkinFoCAS Initiative
The document discusses the history and controversies surrounding human microchip implants. It describes some early commercial uses of implants for access control by employees, including cases in Spain and the US. 1.6 Improving Outcomes for Youth Aging Out of Foster Care
Speaker: Amy Lemley
Nearly 28,000 youth emancipated from foster care in 2010, and it is imperative that they have access to services, affordable housing options, education, and employment to prepare them to live independently. Communities that have extended foster care to older youth under the Fostering Connections Act and that are creatively using resources to increase housing opportunities will discuss their successes and lessons learned.

1) Smart products and internet connected devices are increasingly common but can malfunction in ways that compromise user safety and privacy.
2) Mobile medical apps are regulated by the FDA depending on their intended use and risk level, from full regulation as medical devices to enforcement discretion for lower risk apps.
3) Autonomous vehicles offer safety and mobility benefits but also cybersecurity, liability, and insurance challenges that must be addressed as the technology develops.
Advanced Biometrics - Microchip implantation in HumanMv Raam
Microchip implantation in humans is discussed. Radio frequency identification (RFID) tags contain stored information and are powered by electromagnetic induction from magnetic fields near a reader. A human microchip implant is an identifying integrated circuit or RFID transponder encased in glass and implanted under the skin. It contains a unique ID number linked to personal and medical information. In the future, GPS-enabled chips could potentially locate individuals by latitude, longitude, and other location data, though such implants are not currently feasible. Authorities may one day use implantable GPS to find missing persons or fugitives.
The issues confronting adolescents preparing for independent livingHouse of New Hope
The document discusses issues facing youth aging out of foster care and efforts to better support them. It outlines provisions of the Foster Care Independence Act of 1999 which doubled funding for independent living programs and allowed states greater flexibility. States must now assist youth in transitioning to self-sufficiency through education, employment training and more. Extending foster care services to age 21 is presented as key to improving outcomes for these vulnerable youth.

This document provides an overview of evidence for the effectiveness of mobile health apps. It discusses the growth of smartphones and their widespread use. It then reviews literature showing that some mobile apps have been effective in improving communication between clinicians and patients and adherence to treatment. However, one study found mobile photos to be less accurate than gold standard diagnosis. Alzheimer's is rapidly growing. -> (AGEING POPULATION)
Reported cases increasing by 66% between 2000 and 2008.
It will reach epidemic proportions within the next 50 years.
Wandering Episode.
60-70% of patients.
Leads to need for constant monitoring.
A survey carried out in 2010 that we’ve referenced -> over 14 hours of care per day -> later stages of the disease.
And a Canadian study depression symptoms are twice as common in caregivers, directly linked back to negative effects on the patient.
This is something we feel we can help with.
And our mission is to resolve these challenges BY………. -> -> ->
RESOLVE CHALLENGES
And this is our product, the Alzafind Wristband, a very early prototype.
Levon will take us through the design a bit further later on in the presentation.
It provides: BLAHBLAHBLAH
For anyopne who’s not aware:
“A Geo-Fence is basically an easy-to-set-up, virtual, geographical boundary. Whenever the wristband enters or exits a Geo-Fence, the carer’s phone will be alerted.
The boundary wouldn’t have to be limited to just the home either, you could set up a Geo-Fence along a normal route for the patient, like going to church and back.”
We also have website, and app that ill go through in a minute
And now I’d like to take you through our Application.
Here is an initial design of our loading screen that will show when a user opens the app.
Once the application has successfully loaded, the user will be prompted to log in using their unique details.
Our main menu. We’ve kept a very minimalistic style with the application, focusing more on functionality rather than aesthetics.
AS YOU CAN SEE: (point at screen) extremely user-friendly.
Elderly people with zero technological experience can find their way around the app with relative ease.
Nielsen’s 10 Heuristics to help ensure usability.
And if we click on “Locator”…….
…..we are brought to this page.
This shows an example of one of our functional pages, this is what the screen will look like once the carer requests an update of the patient’s location.
And we can go straight back to our main menu simply by clicking on the “Menu” button at the top of every page.
Ok, so that’s how it looks to the user, now I’d like to briefly take you through our Use Case Diagrams.
The first one on the screen is the most straightforward and typically details how we envision the product working whenever the patient wanders outside of their safe zone, and how the carers are alerted to the incident.
Our Overall Architecture Diagram gives a very high level view of each component in the system and how they collaborate with each other to provide our users with a reliable service.
As you can see it shows the flow of the process from the Alzheimer’s Patient at the top down to the Caregiver’s device at the bottom.
Moving on to the actual development of the business and where we plan on going from here, on the screen you’ll see a chronological list of our planned milestones and expected durations for each step. We believe that these dates are realistic, taking into account our current skill levels, and we have accounted for a minimal amount of slack to be expected towards the end of the project.
As you can see, we’re hoping to launch the initial product at the start of September of this year.

In a world where Alzheimer’s Patients are sometimes locked inside their rooms from the outside, subjected to alarm systems whenever they walk out the door, or even just restrained by those looking after them, we believe that our solution can provide everyone involved with far more independence than they are privy to now.
Every patient deserves to be given the opportunity to make the most out of the life that they have left, independently and freely, and our wristband can allow them to do so, by themselves, whilst remaining safe, and looked after at all times, even when the carer isn’t around.
….and if any of the wristband tracking devices start to act up and behave irregularly, this is what we envision happening, and we have contingency plans laid out for each eventuality.
