Beata Szkop is a senior accountant with experience in tax preparation, finance auditing, and bookkeeping. She belongs to several professional organizations for accountants, including the California Society of CPAs and the Financial Planning Association. The Financial Planning Association was formed in 2000 by the merger of two other organizations to promote professional development and networking for financial services professionals through its over 100 local chapters. 3.  The International Association for Financial
Planning and the Institute of Certified Financial
Planners merged on January 1, 2000, to form the
Financial Planning Association. Based in Denver,
Colorado, this consolidated association maintains
over 100 local chapters in areas throughout the
nation. The Financial Planning Association
promotes professional development and enables
networking among students, teachers, and
especially professionals in the financial services
field.

4.  Aside from providing the opportunity for
financial services professionals to network, the
Financial Planning Association also offers public
services and education. In 2001, after the attacks
of September 11, the association founded the
National Planning Support Center to offer free
financial planning to victims of disaster. Now, the
association hosts a website where members of
the public can access financial planning
resources related to retirement, college, the
purchase of a home, and other such life events.
