WHEREAS, The Appropriations Committee and the Senate President Pro-Tempore are both charged
with the duty of recommending all internal financial improvements for the Student Government
Association; and,
WHEREAS, The Student Government Association, in striving to legislate statutes to eliminate
unethical practices that may detrimentally compromise the integrity of the academy and institution;
and,
IN ORDER TO, prevent any conflict(s) of interest, and;
WHEREAS, while the aforementioned members have been reviewing the Constitution, have
encountered a lack of legislation leaving the institution vulnerable to conflict(s) of interest. In the
interest of clarification and consistency, the following statute should be inserted; and,
WHEREAS, the Student Government Association represents the students enrolled within the
institution, with that responsibility, they will review the usage of Special Activities Funding to pay
current UNCW faculty, staff and students; therefore, be it

ENACTED, that §503.22, be inserted into the Student Senate Statutes in the Special Activities
Funding portion of Title V Finance as follows:
503.22 The UNCW Student Government Association will not provide any student
organization(s) with Special Activities Funding to speaker fees or honorarium
related to speaker fees to any current members of the UNCW faculty, staff or
student body.
503.22.1 With the exception of entertainment performances; such determination
shall be left to the discretion of the Appropriations Committee.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, That this Constitutional Amendment will be in effect upon
passage.
