Why trees or it’s
 branches are cut by us?
 Safety of the public is paramount to us Godrejites.
 Trees in contact with power lines are a safety hazard, with
the potential for causing injury or even death by
electrocution if someone touches a tree made ‘live’ by a
  power line.
 Trees in windy or stormy conditions can cause power
cuts. Power supply may be disrupted when trees or
branches break thereby damaging poles, power lines or
  other structures.
Continued…
 Similarly, when conditions are dry, trees near power lines
  can cause serious fires.
 These are the danger of trees near power lines.
Growth Limit Zone:
 The tree in this illustration will
need to be cut or trimmed
  because it encroaches the
  Growth Limit Zone.
 The Growth Limit Zone (GLZ) is
  the minimum space
  surrounding any powerline that
must be kept clear of trees and
  other vegetation. The size of
  this zone depends on the
  voltage of the power lines.
The Notice Zone:
 The Notice Zone (NOTZ) extends one metre beyond the
Growth Limit Zone. Should a tree encroach the Notice
Zone, we may send a 'Hazard Warning Notice' advising
you that the tree must not encroach the GLZ.
 For Powerline spans up to 150 meters

Problems caused by cutting
    or trimming trees:
 Adverse impact on:
1. Atmosphere
2. Biodiversity
3. Economical impact, etc.

Most pressure will come from the world's developing
countries, which have the fastest-growing populations
and most rapid economic (industrial) growth.
Why this Kaizen?
 In our work, while erecting poles, sometimes it is seen
that a tree or it’s branch come in the way of our erection
  activity.
 After taking all the requisite permissions, the tree or it’s
branches are trimmed off so that the line is laid and the
work is carried forward without any difficulties or
  hindrances.
 Hence, we see that cutting or trimming of trees in
INEVITABLE. Therefore we have come out with this kaizen.
What can be done?
 All such events where we are required to cut or trim the
trees are to be noted by the site engineer in charge.
 Proper documentation of such activities should be done.
 For every tree affected (be it’s branch or the tree as a
whole), idea is to plant at least two saplings that would
not only serve as a compensation but also work as an
initiative towards the conservation of our mother nature.

Tree plantation & Godrej :
 In face of ever increasing urbanization, Godrej has always
    been alive to environmental concerns.
 It is our intention to give back as much, if not more, as is
being taken through the rigorous development process.
 At our Godrej, environmental consciousness is all pervasive.
So such initiative is only going to add to our CSR activity in
    environmental preservation.
 Godrej strongly believes that green environment enhances
    productivity and quality.
 So, continuing this noble ideology of our company, We, the
    site engineers, too, can contribute.
After effects of Kaizen:
 After proper documentation of tree trimming activities at
site, the tree plantation can be done on quarterly basis.
 Plantation of saplings can be done along the roads, empty
places in the Jabalpur city area taking care that the
saplings would get ample amount of water, sunlight.
 The whole concept is to ensure that the situation is
improved upon from it's condition prior to trimming trees
  hence maintaining the ecological balance.
