The document describes the process of replacing three direct porosity plugs (DPPs) in a refinery vessel in Asia Pacific. Key steps included: removing the used plugs and surrounding bricks; installing new surrounding bricks and mortaring them in place; centering and ramming a new porous plug into the vessel; and connecting hoses to the new plugs. The work was carried out by a project team led by manager Heinz Wieduwilt to protect purging channels in the vessel.
What Can an Online Archive do for Community Relationships?Lizzie Snyder
Trinity College has created an online archive in partnership with the local community of Hartford, CT to improve town-gown relationships. Through Community Learning Initiatives, students work directly with community members on experiential projects. The archive documents the shared history and experiences of Trinity and Hartford to make historical evidence accessible and strengthen connections between the two. The site has involved students in the creation and cataloging process while benefiting the community.
The TALTIO program creates a standard model for structured data, defining in which format invoice, receipt and account statement information, for example, can be entered into financial management systems without manual data entry.
In the TALTIO program, integrations, data storages and reporting apps are implemented in different work packages according to the TALTIO model.
The TALTIO program
- promotes the digitalisation of small companies, associations and companies operating in the housing sector.
- creates opportunities for managing the finance of private persons.
- develops the services of accounting firms to address future needs.

How to calculate your Fuel Consumption (FC)funkseoul
This document provides instructions for calculating a car's fuel consumption (FC) in liters per 100 km through either rough estimation or careful calculation methods. It also explains how to convert FC to other units like miles per gallon or km per liter. Tips are given for improving FC such as driving slower, avoiding excessive idling or air conditioning use, and taking routes with less traffic or better road conditions. Conversion formulas and examples are included to demonstrate the calculation process.
The document discusses compressed air cars. It provides an introduction defining compressed air cars as cars powered solely or in a hybrid form using compressed air. It discusses the history of compressed air cars dating back to 1838. It also outlines some of the technology used in compressed air cars including compressed air tanks, brake power recovery systems, and innovative electrical systems. It notes advantages such as easy refueling, low production costs, and reduced hazardous chemicals, and disadvantages including less efficiency and inadequate range for long trips.
Agile Software Development proposal for UIW 3Sajjad Mansoor
The document proposes adopting an agile software development process to address current project problems like siloed work and lack of transparency. It summarizes the agile manifesto and Scrum framework, including roles like product owner and Scrum master. An implementation plan is outlined, with activities like sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives. Metrics are suggested to measure velocity, defects, testing coverage. Management support is requested to shift mindsets to agile, provide training, tools, and accept that initial sprints may not go smoothly as the team learns.
End-to-end pipeline agility - Berlin Buzzwords 2024Lars Albertsson
We describe how we achieve high change agility in data engineering by eliminating the fear of breaking downstream data pipelines through end-to-end pipeline testing, and by using schema metaprogramming to safely eliminate boilerplate involved in changes that affect whole pipelines.
A quick poll on agility in changing pipelines from end to end indicated a huge span in capabilities. For the question "How long time does it take for all downstream pipelines to be adapted to an upstream change," the median response was 6 months, but some respondents could do it in less than a day. When quantitative data engineering differences between the best and worst are measured, the span is often 100x-1000x, sometimes even more.
A long time ago, we suffered at Spotify from fear of changing pipelines due to not knowing what the impact might be downstream. We made plans for a technical solution to test pipelines end-to-end to mitigate that fear, but the effort failed for cultural reasons. We eventually solved this challenge, but in a different context. In this presentation we will describe how we test full pipelines effectively by manipulating workflow orchestration, which enables us to make changes in pipelines without fear of breaking downstream.
Making schema changes that affect many jobs also involves a lot of toil and boilerplate. Using schema-on-read mitigates some of it, but has drawbacks since it makes it more difficult to detect errors early. We will describe how we have rejected this tradeoff by applying schema metaprogramming, eliminating boilerplate but keeping the protection of static typing, thereby further improving agility to quickly modify data pipelines without fear.
State of Artificial intelligence Report 2023kuntobimo2016
Artificial intelligence (AI) is a multidisciplinary field of science and engineering whose goal is to create intelligent machines.
We believe that AI will be a force multiplier on technological progress in our increasingly digital, data-driven world. This is because everything around us today, ranging from culture to consumer products, is a product of intelligence.
The State of AI Report is now in its sixth year. Consider this report as a compilation of the most interesting things we’ve seen with a goal of triggering an informed conversation about the state of AI and its implication for the future.
We consider the following key dimensions in our report:
Research: Technology breakthroughs and their capabilities.
Industry: Areas of commercial application for AI and its business impact.
Politics: Regulation of AI, its economic implications and the evolving geopolitics of AI.
Safety: Identifying and mitigating catastrophic risks that highly-capable future AI systems could pose to us.
Predictions: What we believe will happen in the next 12 months and a 2022 performance review to keep us honest.
