They also felt younger than their actual age. However, a separate study by Humana and USC found that media portrayals of those over 60 are often inaccurate and ageist, with characters facing demeaning references to their age. These negative perceptions from a lack of representation and ageist media portrayals may negatively impact the health of aging Americans by dampening optimism.
