This chapter defines open source intelligence (OSINT) and describes its fundamentals, including:
1) OSINT is the collection and analysis of publicly available information to address intelligence requirements.
2) OSINT supports other intelligence collection efforts by providing foundational information to enhance
collection and production.
3) Publicly available information comes from open sources like media, public speeches, and commercial
databases that are legally and ethically accessed without employing specialized collection skills or equipment.
