Bethesda has announced that mods will be supported for Fallout 4 on consoles as well as PC. Mods will allow players to add extra content or make changes to the game. While console mods will be limited compared to PC, Bethesda has confirmed that Xbox One users will be able to access mods created for the PC version. Support for PS4 mods depends on approval from Sony, but Bethesda believes they will allow it. Mod support on consoles will come later in 2016 after the initial release on PC.

Many popular games, such as "Grand Theft Auto 5," "The Witcher 3," and "The Elder Scrolls," have
both official and fan-made mods that add content and excitement to gamers' playing experience. And
with the legions of "Fallout" fans, it is no wonder that its upcoming fourth installment already has
game mods being readied. Publisher and developer Bethesda has taken this into account, and it has
already confirmed that mods will be allowed with the PC version of "Fallout 4."
In this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo, Bethesda added to the good news by saying that
modding features will also be extended to the title's console versions, meaning that Xbox One and
PS4 players will also have the chance to make their own modifications, or download one, for their
console systems.
However, Bethesda clarified that since consoles differ from PC in terms of performance and system
specs, the "Fallout 4" mods for the Xbox One and PS4 versions will be somewhat limited. In an
interview with news site DigitalSpy, the game's director, Todd Howard, clarified that although it is
already confirmed that because of the upcoming cross-platform functionalities of Microsoft systems,
Windows PC mods of the game can be ported into the Xbox One, but it will be up to Sony if the same
functionality will have PS4 players enjoy "Fallout 4" mods on their consoles.
"If Sony says no, we won't, but I don't think they will," Howard said. "But, you know, it will come out
on PC first. So early 2016, the creation mod for the PC, and then we're going to make that work on
the Xbox One, and then we're going to do the PS4 version."
