Praise Be To God...Always
By Karen Ruhl
This photo was taken on The Blue Ridge Parkway.
This spot is about 45 minutes from our house and
has beautiful views and great sunsets at different
times of the year. I love to talk to the people at these
turn outs and find out how far they traveled and
where they are headed. Most people love to talk and
ask for ideas of where to go in the area. The rock
that these two young ladies are sitting on attracts
many people. Many will just walk out and stand but
many will sit and have a picnic or just watch the
sunset. These two ladies go to Appalachian State
College in Boone. I asked them to put their hands
up like they were praising God and up they went
with big smiles. I have decided that this will be a
photo I will try to get every time we go by this area.
In North Carolina, most everyone we run into is
happy to praise God. It is one reason we know God
placed us in this area.
I am learning more about North Carolina and its
importance in the freedom of religion in our coun-
try. The history along the Eastern Coast of the
United States is amazing, filled with rich stories of
faith and sacrifice.
Every day we have the choice to offer our bodies
as living sacrifices to God. The Lord doesn’t force
His children to obey Him; rather He longs for us to
choose His ways over our own desires. Our sacrifice
of living for Jesus on a daily basis in spite of the
temptations, trials, and tragedies of life encourages an
investment of sacrifice with an eternity of rewards.
“My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit; a broken
and contrite heart you, God, will not despise”
-Psalm 51:17
We have it much easier than people did in biblical
times. We are able to “Google” everything we need
about every topic. How about taking time this month
to sacrifice your time in front of your computer,
television, game system, and talk to your family about
the ultimate sacrifice, Jesus’ death on the cross.
After you do, it is my hope that you will want to find
a mountaintop and throw your hands up to Praise
Him. Who knows, maybe I will be there to snap your
picture.

4. Letter from the Editor
Every once in a great while, I will sit back and wonder what I am
supposed to be doing for the Kingdom. The Kingdom where God made
me one of His children. And before I have time to think for very long,
I will get a text, a phone call, or someone will cross my path and I am
once again aware of how God is using me and how I am serving Him.
This past two months, God has put more Christians in my path than
ever before. Strong Christians, faithful Christians, serving Christians.
He has also been feeding me at rapid rates. Teaching me the word as
I have never known it before, teaching me about Spiritual Warfare,
and even more about prayer. Sometimes I think my head may explode
from all that he is downloading to me. Not only do I get the message
once, but it is always confirmed at least 3 times. I know it is important
because it is all from Him and He lets me know that I need to know this
information.
Many of the things I learn are from people He has connected me to
like Suzette Humphreys, The Marriage Warrior, or Jessica Tetters, who
started The Christian Blanket Project, and two people I met this past
month Donica Hudson and Pastor Andre Vaynol. Instead of worrying
that my brain might be getting filled up, I continue to ask for more.
What a wonderful feeling to have God appointments with these faithful
saints. It is my hope that the stories we share in this magazine fill you
up too. Read them over and over, let the messages fill your heart up
with love and passion for our mighty God. He is feeding us, make sure
you take time to be a receiver.
We are so blessed with our regular contributors and welcome Pamela
McCormick to this month’s issue. She has quite a testimony and is
sharing her story with the knowledge that she may help someone who
has been on a journey like hers. Thank you Pam for being strong and
faithful.
If you have any questions about the magazine, please get in touch with
me. Feel free to contact us with your story, we are always looking for
those who are on the journey to share their faith with others.
We are grateful for each of you.
Happy Spring!

FLIPPING THE SWITCH
Have you ever noticed that people often talk more
than they listen? This is a common frustration for
marriages. Couples are notorious for being more con-
cerned in getting his/her own point across, rather than
really trying to understand the matters of the heart of
their counterpart. I can not count how many times I
have heard clients complain “my husband/wife never
hear what I am saying”. When considering how
often you may interrupt your partner, would you do
something different? What if there were simple com-
munication tools that could “flip the switch” in your
marital interaction?
Communication is one of the top issues for marital
distress. Often times, couples get busy with the task
of the day and just minimize their need for mere
friendship with one another. As time passes, the cou-
ple may find themselves talking only about surface
issues, like “what’s for dinner”, or “what time do the
kids need to be at practice.” Couples get caught up
in parenting or work roles and by the end of the day,
they just want to relax. However, these “melt down”
moments, are attached to the cost of lost emotional
intimacy. Days turn into weeks and weeks turn into
months and before you know it, relationship connec-
tion becomes dim and sometimes the light just goes
out completely. Typically, couples are aware when
things are not in a healthy flow. However, neither
partner may know exactly how to begin discussions,
so they avoid them, to escape a possible explosion.
As a result more distance occurs, which in turn, cre-
ates more dysfunction.
Reconstructing healthier communication patterns can
be as difficult for a couple as turning around a 747
aircraft. Argument cycles are fairly complex, as they
are composed of offense cycles, emotional withdraw-
als, passivity, hidden resentments, aggression, coping
mechanisms, childhood development and undefined
triggers. These issues typically require outside coun-
seling assistance to help the couple navigate through
toxic interaction patterns. However, as a couple be-
gins to recognize the relationship destruction, there
are some simple tools that can be incorporated to at
least begin healthier marital functioning.
Everyone needs “a person”. When a couple enters
into marriage, they typically have chosen their partner
as their “person”. The one you go to, the one you rely
on and the one that meets your needs. However, the
culprits of stress and fatigue will get in the way of the
type of communication required for emotional intima-
cy. Think about it…when couples first get to know
one another, they typically start out with a friendship.
The relationship begins with kind gestures and genu-
ine interest regarding what is going on in the other’s
daily life. When asked about the day, there is a real
interest in hearing about it. Courtesy and support are
givens in the initial stages of relationship develop-
ment. However, these simple practices somehow get
lost as the marriage is consumed with life, work and
family stressors.
When desiring healthier marital interaction, kindness
and courtesy skills are key. Unfortunately, couples
omit doing the little things that make their partner
feel noticed or nurtured. Although it is best for both
partners to commit to kindness, often times it begins
with only one partner. It is not always easy or fair
to offer the olive branch first, but if something is not
done, the damage will worsen as time goes on. The
scripture encourages the one who is more spiritual
to make the first move. This point may have more
punch when understanding spiritual warfare. When
the enemy begins attacking the marriage, it’s only a
matter of time before he targets the children and the
finances. The enemy is not after you, but rather after
the next generation, and the way he gets that genera-
tion is one family at a time. If you comprehend this,
then you will be more willing to accept the scripture
of “he who is more spiritual… “ without too much
resistance related to fairness. A little humility will
be a small price to pay to save your family from the
enemy’s strategy to gain the next generation.
5
7. As couples desire to reignite the light of their con-
nection, they need to go back to the basics. The first
order of business is to analyze self. The scripture tells
us to deal with “the log in our own eye, rather than
the spec in someone else’s”. So, when we look at our
own ways of communicating, we may find that we
are fairly self-centered when we communicate. This
concept should not be confused with “shut up and be
quiet” position. On the contrary, you can make your
point and case, just wait your turn. Secondly, rather
than desiring to be heard and understood, increase the
skill of listening to understand. Make a trade from
thinking about what you want to say with entertaining
what your partner is saying. Once you have listened
to your partner’s concern, take the time to reframe
what they have said by using the phrase “so what
I heard you saying is….” This tool will not only
validate your partner but it will also assure you that
your interpretation is correct. Additionally, be aware
of defensive posturing. Make efforts to engage as an
active listener, rather than defending yourself. Mar-
riage is God’s sanctifying tool and your partner is a
mirror for you to see your own behaviors. Become
more open to hear about yourself and work to find
ways for self-growth. Defensiveness is narrow-
minded and stunts growth and productivity. Whereas,
ownership is a sign of high self-esteem and increases
self-development.
Alert yourself to negative internal dialogue. Many
marital conversations turn negative as resentment and
bitterness build. You may find that your negativity
has turned into a complaining spirit. This will destroy
not only your interior life, but will also put your re-
lationships at risk. Additionally, analyze your prayer
life regarding your partner. Are you complaining
about your spouse even to God? There is a recom-
mended book called “The Courts of Heaven” which
reveals what is occurring in the supernatural realm
when we pray. For instance, if God is the Judge,
and satan is the “prosecuting” attorney against your
partner, are your complaining prayers coming into
alignment with satan’s agendas against your partner?
If you understand that your partner may not be acting
in a way that is loving, then could you consider that
the enemy is causing an attack upon him/her? And if
the enemy is influencing them…are you coming into
agreement with that attack? If altering your prayers
regarding your partner had the power to cease satan’s
attack, would you change the way you pray? These
concepts may not totally repair the damage of the past
or heal all the marital wounds.
However, for a cycle to change, all it takes is the in-
tervention of one person. When one partner changes
his/her negative contributions to the interaction, the
cycle WILL change. You have the power to be the
one to intervene and “FLIP THE SWITCH”!
WARRIORS WISDOM:
1. Beware of negative thinking patterns and
find something positive to say
2. Wait for a period before interrupting and
take turns addressing issues
3. Become a friend again to your partner
4. Keep the emotions and voice tones from
escalating
5. Utilize properly courtesy etiquettes to ad-
dress your partner
6. Remember that your spouse is not your
enemy. You are not fighting flesh and
blood but principalities
7. Readjust your prayer-life regarding your
spouse
8. Don’t be bound with the spirit of FEAR
of “being wrong”. Equip yourself with
ownership
9. Trade the spirit of PRIDE for the spirit of
HUMILITY
10. Lean on God and trust Him to change you
first

Be still my soul the Lord is on thy side
Bear patiently the cross of grief or pain
Leave to thy God to order and provide
In every change He faithful will remain
Be still my soul thy best, thy heavenly friend
Through thorny ways leads to a joyful end.
Twenty-one years later, on February 6, 2019,
I sat in a church in Lakewood, Colorado in
a funeral for my brother, Skip, who had just
lost his battle with cancer. We sang the same
hymn, Be Still My Soul, and once again the
tears welled up – remembering Kristi’s pass-
ing, and now Skip joining her in the presence of the
Lord.
Be still my soul thy God will undertake
To guide the future as he has the past
Your hope, your confidence let nothing shake
All now mysterious shall be bright at last
Be still my soul the waves and winds still know
His voice who ruled them while He dwelt below.
Be still my soul when dearest friends depart
And all is darkened in the vale of tears
Then shall thou better know His love, his heart
Who comes to soothe thy sorrow and thy fears
Be still my soul thy Jesus can repay
From his own fullness all he takes away.
The composer of this hymn was Katharina von
Schlegel. Little is known about her life other than
she lived in a Lutheran Damenstift (a residential
endowment for unmarried Protestant women) in
Germany. She was part of a pietistic movement –
an emphasis on personal faith. She wrote a number
of hymns, however, Be Still My Soul is the only
one that survived, thanks to a British woman, Jane
Borthwick, who translated it into English a century
after Katharina wrote it.
Reflections of a Song
By Randi McNiel
Be Still My Soul
Katharina von Schlegel (1697-1768)
It was April 26, 1998. I was driving
from Southern California to Vallejo, about 45 miles
north of San Francisco, where my sister, Kristi, lay
dying in the same hospital in which she was born
nearly 45 years earlier. She had struggled with
Juvenile Diabetes (now called Type 1) since the age
of 15, and in recent years it had
really begun to attack her body.
As I drove up to say goodbye, I was listening to
one of my favorite CDs, *Hymn Works, a tapestry
of classical themes and hymns, when the hymn, Be
Still My Soul came on. I knew the hymn well and
the words spoke to me. As it built to a crescendo I
had a vision of Kristi walking into heaven – a bright
white fog as she stepped through the clouds into
eternity. I noted the time – it was 11:00 a.m. My
eyes welled up with tears knowing that she was
gone from us and now in the arms of Jesus.
When I arrived at the
hospital about 5 p.m.
my two brothers greeted
me outside – one parked
the car while my older
brother, Skip, led me to
Kristi’s room. He told
me she passed away
that morning. When I
asked what time, he told
me it was about 11:00.
I thought about the words to the hymn I had listed
to when I saw Kristi depart from us. My stinging
tears were for the pain in my heart at not being able
to say goodbye, and the joy that Kristi was now
experiencing.
Faith On Every Corner

The words are poetic and rich and speak to the
heartbroken and suffering. “Be still and know that
I am God” (Psalm 46:10), and “The Lord Almighty
is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge” (Psalm
46:11). Theologian and English Congregational
minister, Joseph Parker (1830-1902) said, “Preach
to the suffering and you will never lack a congrega-
tion. There is a broken heart in every pew.”
People need the hope that they find in Biblical
promises. The prophet Isaiah said, “Those who wait
for the Lord will renew their strength, they shall
mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and
not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” (Isaiah
40:31)
This hymn ends with the reminder that “the best
is yet to come.” Every day we move closer to our
eternal home where “God will wipe every tear from
their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning
or crying or pain . . .” (Revelation 21:4)
Be still my soul the hour is hastening on
When we shall be forever with the Lord
When disappointment, grief, and fear are gone
Sorrow forgot, love’s purest joys restored
Be still my soul when change and tears are past
All safe and blessed we shall meet at last.

I truly needed to see this today. I have been strug-
gling to get this magazine published. I worried,
am I supposed to publish this? Is there a reason it
seems to be stalled each time I work on an inter-
view or article? I even talked to Craig and asked
him if he thinks there is something I should be
listening to. But the word that keeps coming back
to me is “Wait.”
And so today, as I finish this issue, I find that all of
my waiting, all the reasons I could not publish prior
to this comes down to God’s timing, not mine.
He has perfect timing, and I believe there is some-
one who is going to read this issue that may not
have seen it prior to this date. Or that an article
will touch someone who needs to see it today, not
yesterday, but today.
The bible tells us:
Don’t become impatient or discouraged, keep faith
in God. It is written in the Bible, Psalm 27:14,
NKJV. “Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and
He shall strengthen your heart;
“Wait, I say, on the Lord!’” Waiting on God will give
us more strength than anything else can.
It’s in the Bible, Isaiah 40:30-31, NKJV.
While I was working on the stories for this issue, I
was looking for someone to interview. I prayed and
asked God to show me who he wanted me to fea-
ture. One night, I was very tired from a busy week,
I emailed Jessica from The Blue Blanket Project
(who you will read about in this issue), asking if I
could move our appointment for the next day. I told
her I was simply worn out. She was so gracious and
said of course! But it seems God had me move the
appointment for another reason. Just after hearing
back from Jessica, I got a text from Donica Hudson
(you will hear more about Donica soon), she asked
if I would like to interview Pastor Andre the next
morning before he headed back to South Africa.
I must admit that I was ready to say not this time
but God had other plans. I knew I was to interview
Pastor Andre and so I confirmed that I would meet
them the next morning at our local coffee shop. The
interview is in this issue and I hope you take time
or have taken the time to read it.
The message of this article is this, sometimes God
delays us so we can hear the message He wants us
to hear. And to share His word and His promise
with the world.
Habakkuk 2:3 “For still the vision awaits its ap-
pointed time; it hastens to the end—it will not lie.
If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it
will not delay.”
And so His vision has come at the appointed time.
We hope you enjoy this issue.

Dear Carl,
What a fun conversation we had Sunday evening! It felt good to laugh and even drop a few tears. Son, the
move to this lovely cottage was daunting. You worked hard at sorting my stuff. I didn’t know what to toss
or what to keep. I think we both chose wisely. We sure had our moments though. Why would I ever think I
needed to keep 15 baskets to serve bread and rolls, over 20 plastic deli containers, and over 25 old towels and T-
shirts in a plastic bag for rags, and cleaning? I thought you met your edge of patience when you said, “Ma, these
shopping bags are flowing over onto the floor. Why are you keeping all these?” then you opened the cupboard
to put them back and even more came floating out. I saw the avalanche of bags and tried not to laugh. Some
bags were from stores no longer in business. Your true push to the edge was when you opened a drawer and it
was filled with hundreds of assorted twist ties. You just dumped them in the trash without a word. I know my
attic storage here is filled with some memorabilia that I should let go. I will ask you more about Donna’s latest
interest in the Japanese organizer I am happy she has found laundry to be rewarding and fun to fold. Your new
washer and dryer sound beautiful. I didn’t know they came in teal.
The best thing we put together is my treasure box. Thank you, son. Today, on Valentine’s Day, I pulled out the
small tote filled with meaningful things. I was sharing stories about these things to Shirley. She kept telling me
how wonderful that I kept these “bobbles and bits” or “bits and pieces”. Her latest nuisance is she has taken on
a poor British accent. Her British decorating shows and other BBC entertainment accents have rubbed off her.
Bless her heart, she just loves all things new and trendy, except for my old bracelet that your dad bought me for
a gift. Those days even movie stars wore costume jewelry. This bracelet is made of an inexpensive metal. It
has a wide width chain of leaves painted lavender. Pretty lavender rhinestones are glued randomly all around
the bracelet. Over time the paint has chipped, and a few rhinestones are missing. I put it on and raised it to the
light. It is fabulous. I miss your dad so much, Carl.
Well, enough of that. I must get ready. Shirley is driving us to the American Legion’s Valentine’s Dinner. I
enjoy their events. They always serve the same meals with potatoes, gravy, rolls, and green beans that are never
see who may need some extra attention. Son, with all our beautiful things, homes, cars, gifts, and “bobbles and
bits”, we should really thank God. I love things, son. However, preacher Larry says we should store our trea-
sures in heaven. I am going to study more about it. Go to church, son. Take care of your things but remember
what’s important. God loves you.
Love, Mom

Treasures in Heaven
19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break
in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and
where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

“The Promise”
by Pamela McCormicK
A yellow rose is separated from the flowering bush. A set of pruning shears
have been used to take the beauty of the outdoors inside, so the inside does not hold the darkness it appears to
hold, and all is well and okay for a moment in time. The rose’s petals are delicate and open their feather-like
petals to the sunlight, streaming through the open Venetian blinds that are slanted slightly downward. The rose’s
aromatic scent is like a whiff of scented baby powder, bringing relaxation to the nostrils and to the innermost
part of the soul, giving an overall sense of sweet satisfaction. The petals fall, as age comes to the wilting flower,
and small shriveled leaves float effortlessly to the tabletop below. One by one, the petals fall, until there are
none left.
The green stem, that supported the rose for a short time, now stands alone; naked, limp, and bent over. Mildew
and fungi grow where there was once freshness, strength and support. The flower is gone, so the stem is thrown
in the trash next. The life sustaining water that once surrounded the rose in its new home is now murky and
cloudy and needs to be poured down the drain, because the stench is too great to leave it standing there. What is
left?
A beautiful memory remains of the joy its short life gave to the person who needed it to come inside and add
some beauty, where darkness had reigned instead.
A calendar’s days, weeks, months, and pages turn without much notice, almost like a book that is scanned for
content, when a reader is deciding whether it holds significant interest to them or not.
Busyness fills our schedules; our lives are so full that we have to write down everything, because we must not
forget anything. But in our efforts to schedule everything under the sun, we miss something more precious than
notations on a calendar.
We forget to notice how short time is and how often we let our days go by, wasting many of them sometimes in
idleness or sometimes, so much busyness, to note another’s need for warmth, compassion and friendship.
One day is gone; another day begins, and as you mark one day as gone and a new day begun, you ask yourself
again, “Where has this day, this week, this month gone?”
We forget the “simple moments” that make each day beautiful, moments as simple as a short conversation with
a good friend or a warm bath or the enjoyment of a family pet jumping into our arms and giving us nuzzles. We
forget to see the miracles in front of us, because we are consumed by all the tomorrows and the fears that hold
us prisoners today.
Life surrounds us, but we’re like dead people walking. What happened to spontaneity and doing something
totally out of the norm, to shake things up a bit? What happened to living each day to its fullest and making
another person’s day brighter too, just because we could?
13. 12 Faith On Every Corner
Our “agendas” make us miss so much; our own beating heart, a child’s laugh, a prize inside a crackerjack box,
a gentle hug from a sister or brother in Christ that just wants you to know that you are loved, or a flower bulb
bursting forth from the solid, frozen earth.
We miss the simple beauty of God’s creatures, great and small, interacting and flitting about, without a care, of
where their next morsel of food will come.
Most importantly, there are days that pass that we forget to tell others how much they are loved and how impor-
tant they are to us.
But then, our agendas kick in, and we dismiss it saying, “There’s always tomorrow. Tomorrow, I’ll be able to
take the time and call that person or help someone. Tomorrow, I’ll be able to take the time to do something
I’ve always wanted to do, but didn’t, because oh yeah, there’s always tomorrow. “Tomorrow, tomorrow, there’s
always tomorrow. It’s only a day away.”
We are like a snowman. We appear at times to be frozen and lifeless, ignoring the splendors of nature and the
many benefits of living and having new breath each day for the tasks before us. We waste moments as if waiting
for a miracle to occur, to make our lives better, and we don’t see all we have today. We need to pull our feet out
of the cold, wet snow that holds us stationary like a statue and move. I am reminded of the commercial where
the little boy disguised as a snowman comes in from the cold, and a bowl of warm soup is waiting for him.
As he relaxes and enjoys the soup, you see the snow and the ice disappear, and a beautiful, freckled face boy
appears, but did you see his smile too? The little boy knew he would be taken care of; he trusted in things he
couldn’t see, but knew someone knew what he needed more than he did.
Did he say, “Boy, it is cold out. I sure would like to have a bowl of warm soup.”
No, but was he still taken care of, anyhow.
The sun shows us the good that is available for us to see, while there is still daylight. After the day is done and
night descends, thank God the moon and the stars offer light to illuminate what would have been complete dark-
ness over all the earth.
Even a porch light on a dimly lit street reminds us that the night is not as dark as it appears, and that holding on
patiently, we will see a new dawn and hear birds singing that the sun has risen, and we can rest in the fact that
life is waiting, even when we forget to notice.
The fragrance of a yellow rose will once again fill us with its pleasant aroma.
The days of our lives will turn, just as the world will turn, and the calendar will get filled up, but what are we
doing with those individual days of promise given to us?
The snowman reminds us not to be lifeless, but to live life to the fullest each day and not take a single day for
granted.
The snowman faces the bright sun with no fear, for more winter snow will come and more snowmen will be
made. With the snowman’s melting, we will again see springtime coming full of many more beautiful yellow
roses and days that hold promise, if we just remember to be thankful for the days we have.
“Then He opened their minds, so they could understand the Scriptures.” Luke 24:45
“Praise the LORD, my soul, and forget not all his benefits”—Psalms 103:2

Living With A Memory Impairment?
By Cheryl Stevenson written in Oct., 2015
It is very frustrating when I have trouble remembering things.
It can make me feel very stupid, although I know that it is not my fault.
Sometimes I’m very aware when my cognition is declined, but sometimes I’m not.
This can affect my personal relationships that I have because there are times when
I have trouble communicating.
When I’m aware of my cognition declining, I may become quiet because of this,
wanting to hide my symptoms.
At times, I won’t contact my children because I do not want them to worry about me.
I’m afraid that they won’t understand what I’m going through,
but will know that I’m having difficulty.
Sometimes the simplest things for other people, are not so simple for me.
Sometimes I have found ways to make things easier for me.
When I park in a parking lot at the mall or at stores that I go to a lot, I usually
park in the same area, so I can find my vehicle more easily.
What can be challenging for me is when I go to a venue, such as a major league ballpark.
I will need someone to walk with me whenever I leave my seat to go to the bathroom or
concessions because it would be very difficult or impossible for me to find my
way back to my seat alone.
I still continue to do the things that I enjoy in my life.
Because of my memory impairment, I have had to give up one of the things
that I really enjoy & that is reading books.
I can still read, but following a story line from paragraph to paragraph or page to
page is very difficult for me, because I will forget what I have just read.

Cheryl has Mild Cognitive Impairment, she likes to write while she can and has
a very positive attitude. We are honored to be able to share Cheryl’s poems.
Enjoy!
Over the past two years, I have also noticed a big decline with my comprehension,
so that will also add to the problems that I have with reading.
Sometimes when I read words, they have little or no meaning for me.
Yet I know how to read them & I know that I should know what they mean.
This can make me very sad & frustrated!
There are times when someone who I’m very close to, will talk about a time when we
were together enjoying things, & I have little to no memory of it.
This can make me very sad & angry!
Sometimes I will cry because of this sadness & frustration.
I often refer to this as a “mini meltdown”!
I’m still trying to figure out a better way to deal with this because I know that
this will keep happening to me.
I don’t know how to not get upset about not being able to remember special times
with the people who I love & who love me.
It is just another loss that is so difficult for me to deal with.
These “meltdowns” only seem to add stress, so I like to try to avoid them!
My goal is to educate others about what it is like to live with a memory impairment.
Over the past year, I have been doing this by writing poems.
I hope that by educating people, the stigma related to a diagnosis will eventually disappear.

Cecil and Jessica Teeters
A few months ago, I was introduced to Jessica and
Cecil at an event in Hudson. We talked for a few
minutes and I knew I wanted to know more about
their mission. There are times you meet people who
are so excited about what God has placed on their
hearts that they do everything they can to put His will
first and reach those He has told them to serve.
The Blue Blanket Project started out with Jessica
getting a wake-up call from God in the middle of the
night. He told her to take care of the homeless. She
told her husband, Cecil, what she was told and they
began to give out Bibles, blankets, and toiletries to the
homeless. And they still do.
Then they received another mission from God, to
provide clothing for children in school who are in
need. This mission is amazing. Their first closet was
in Lenoir, NC. They then expanded with The Little
Closet down the hall from the first and then opened
a new location in Hudson, NC. This mission is run
different from everything I have experienced. It is
definitely a mission of love that both Cecil, a full-time
nurse, and Jessica put their love, strength, time, and
money into. Their children also help.
So what is the closet, and how does it work? I was
given a guided tour by Cecil and Jessica. They ex-
plained that they get clothing, much of it is brand
new, some of it is gently used; to me it all looked new.
They also have accessories, shoes, belts, scarves,
jewelry, etc. Their goal is to have clothing that is
church or interview appropriate.

“This Mission is a mission from God
and He deserves all the glory”
Jessica Teeters ~ The Blue Blanket Christian Project
They work closely with the schools, CCC&TI and
other agencies to get referrals for children who are
in need. The child receives a gift certificate at
school and a number to call to schedule an
appointment to come to the closet. Jessica inter-
views the person calling to find out about the
family. The family is then invited to come and
shop. It is a one-on-one personal shopping day.
The Closet works by a personalized boutique-like
experience. Each person is allowed to choose three
outfits. “This is the first time some of these children
have ever been able to shop and pick out their own
clothes,” says Jessica. After they have made their
choices, they are taken to the register for the check-
out. The child who received the gift
certificate is the one who pays. “It gives them a
sense of pride and boosts their self-esteem,” says
Jessica, “the cards don’t have a dollar amount on
them, they cover the entire shopping trip. The
entire family walks out with a new wardrobe.”
This project is a Mission from God and our prayers
go along with every child that visits The Little
Closet.
While talking to Jessica and Cecil, they give God
all the credit. They are so thankful to be able to
provide this ministry to the area and know it is
a mission from God. “Our goal is to give those
in need the humanity, respect, and privacy they
deserve.” Both Cecil and Jessica work tirelessly on
this project.
The Blue Blanket Christian Project is the non-profit that
is set up to handle the donations for The Closet. The
Closet also accepts gently used clothing. 100% of the
money donated goes toward clothing and blankets to
assist those in need.
There is so much more to this story and I will do follow
up stories in future issues.

A Word For America
by Pastor Andre Vaynol
I have a word for America and for South Africa.
First thing, there needs to be a change or a shift in at-
mosphere and a shift in attitude. There is no change in
the atmosphere, God does not change the atmosphere,
the church changes the atmosphere. The first verse I
want you to look at is in Exodus 17:11. “And it came
to pass that as long as Moses held up his hands, Israel
prevailed; but when he lowered them, Amalek pre-
vailed. “Moses with his hands up with Aaron and Hur
holding his hands up when Moses became tired, as
they fought the Amalekites. While hands up winning,
hands down, lose.
This is easy to understand, when the Israelites came
out of Egypt they were brick layers not warriors. They
were surviving by the skin of their teeth. They had
wilderness mentality and stick technology. God was
showing the Jews the land of abundance, they didn’t
want to upset what they had, they had quail and
manna. They were so upset that they just got their
needs met and they didn’t know there was more than
that.
It is the same in America, it is so dead because we
don’t want to lose our tax free status. The churches
won’t do anything that would upset that status. But
God has moved on, he wants the church to get into the
promise land. The church of God in America is stuck
in the wilderness mentality, still using stick mental-
ity. God wants the church to move on but American
churches are too dependent on their tax-free status. We
need to move on. Stick technology doesn’t work in the
promised land. God has a new technology, a new way
of doing things so they can enjoy the abundance he
has for us. Some Americans are upset with President
Trump, but he understands you can’t use stick technol-
ogy in the land of abundance.
The second thing is in the book of Joshua – Chapter
8:18-19 Stretch out your hand, and the LORD said
unto Joshua, “stretch out the spear that is in thy hand
toward Ai; for I will give it into thine hand. And
Joshua stretched out the spear that he had in his hand
toward the city. As soon as he did this, the men in the
ambush rose quickly from their position and rushed
forward. They entered the city and captured it and
quickly set it on fire.”
Moses with the stick, Joshua with the sword. Lord
what are you saying to me? God said to me, “if you
want to go to the promised land, you need to use the
sword technology.” He is expecting something differ-
ent from you and me. When President Trump came
into his Presidency, he came in as a reprieve before
a disaster. God wants us to get behind your President
and behind those in the Ministers in South Africa.
America and South Africa. WAKE UP, God has great
plans, great prosperity for us.
Let me say this to you, if America does not stand up
and vote for President Trump in 2020, you will lose
your country. You will have great destruction in your
country. Just think of the abortion factor, the lies in the
main street media, the CIA and how they try to destroy
nations. God sees it. Rev 6:10 says, “And they cried
with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy
and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood
on them that dwell on the earth?” Those babies that
you aborted, the babies who you killed on the abortion
table, they cry out, “Who will avenge us?”
Prophet Andre / SAProphet.com
19. 18 Faith On Every Corner
What is the sword? It is the word of God. I said to
the Lord, show me.
He told me that we need to start to declare before it
happens and then it will happen. Jesus was proph-
esied years before he came. What are you prophesy-
ing? Are you using the sword tech to bring about
the abundance in your life? Change your technol-
ogy, change the way you say things. So much hate
is directed at Trump, it has to change. The church
knows that words bring life or death, it is time to
speak life over Trump, it is time to speak life over
South Africa. If we don’t we will lose our countries.
Finally, Attitude, new application, new expression
Ezekiel 4:1-8. 1 “Thou also, son of man, take thee a
tile, and lay it before thee, and portray upon it the
city, even Jerusalem:
2 And lay siege against it, and build a fort against it,
and cast a mount against it; set the camp also against
it, and set battering rams against it round about.
3 Moreover take thou unto thee an ir””on pan, and
set it for a wall of iron between thee and the city: and
set thy face against it, and it shall be besieged, and
thou shalt lay siege against it. This shall be a sign to
the house of Israel.
4 Lie thou also upon thy left side, and lay the iniq-
uity of the house of Israel upon it: according to the
number of the days that thou shalt lie upon it thou
shalt bear their iniquity.
5 For I have laid upon thee the years of their iniquity,
according to the number of the days, three hundred
and ninety days: so shalt thou bear the iniquity of
the house of Israel.
6 And when thou hast accomplished them, lie again
on thy right side, and thou shalt bear the iniquity of
the house of Judah forty days: I have appointed thee
each day for a year.
7 Therefore thou shalt set thy face toward the siege
of Jerusalem, and thine arm shall be uncovered, and
thou shalt prophesy against it.
8 And, behold, I will lay bands upon thee, and thou
shalt not turn thee from one side to another, till thou
hast ended the days of thy siege.”
The prophet would take a tile and paint a picture
of Israel, and then he would pray and siege against
Jerusalem. In a few short years, Jerusalem was over-
taken by Babylon and destroyed.
We need to prophecy against inequity. We need to do
this in the church. We don’t declare God’s word against
it. We don’t because we have wilderness mentality. We
like to prophesy nice things, but there is a time we need
to declare and prophesy. We have to start to prophecy
against those who commit evil, places where evil is
committed, adoption, pornography, against the govern-
ment that steals money, government that is in the sex
slave industry.
We need to protest. We are too quiet. When the Gov-
ernor of VA stood up for abortion and legalized murder
of babies born alive, there was not a squeak. Ministers
did not say a word. They are prophets of Baal. If it was
about a dolphin or a puppy they would be standing up.
Shame on you, we need to protest, we need to proph-
esy and pray against this stuff. We need to go into war
because we do not fight against flesh and blood. We
have an enemy out to destroy you, this is a fight against
principalities. We wont do it physically. I will do it in
my prayer closet. Watch out politicians, there will be no
more kindness, we will be praying against you. There
has to be a change of attitude, change of technology. A
time of prayer. Use your technology, email your politi-
cians, send thousands of emails in protest.
Hell is a place of torment, can you imagine waking up
every day in hell and hearing 61 million babies crying,
Why, why did you kill us? Time for a change of atti-
tude, speak against these things, start to protest, start to
prophesy, do things you have never done before. God
wants you to move into the land of abundance!
That which we declare shall be established unto us.
The Christian who is balling and squalling and beg-
ging is losing out on the abundance. He needs to use
the scripture against what he is facing. You are about to
lose your country. South Africa is burning, it’s too late.
We needed to wake up but we were all sleeping. Only 8
hours of electricity daily, will cause incredible poverty
in South Africa. The church is now waking up, but it
is too late. Now everyone is praying, squalling, crying
but it is too late. We should have been doing this, but
no one wanted to listen. I have been preaching for 15
years. We are heading down a slippery slope and I can
see it. Because I am prophetic, I can see it. America
is starting to do the same – with the politicians ruining
the country, they don’t even understand what they are
doing. They need to look at South America and South
Africa. Wake Up America.

Road Trippin’With Karen & Craig
Photography by Karen Ruhl
There are days when Craig and I go out for a photo drive and I come back with hundreds of photos, and then
there are days we are out all day and only come home with a few. But those few always end up touching my heart.
Here are a few taken on the same drive close to home.
We saw this waterfall coming from the opposite direction from where I am shooting. When we pulled over
on the road where I could get out and shoot, I noticed a white horse laying on his side, he was very still. I kept
watching him, worried a bit that he was in trouble, I whispered, more to myself than anyone, “come on buddy,
get up now.” A moment later, he stood up and walked slowly toward the waters edge where he drank the cool wa-
ter. It reminded me of verses 13 and 14 in John 4, which says: Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water
will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them
will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

Psalm 46
1 God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in times
of trouble.
2 Therefore we will not fear,
though the earth is transformed
and the mountains are toppled
into the depths of the seas,
3 though its waters roar and foam
and the mountains quake
in the surge.
Selah
4 There is a river whose streams
delight the city of God,
the holy place where the
Most High dwells.
5 God is within her;
she will not be moved.
God will help her when
morning dawns.
6 Nations rage, kingdoms crumble;
the earth melts when
He lifts His voice.
7 The LORD of Hosts is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.
Selah
8 Come, see the works
of the LORD,
who brings devastation
upon the earth.
9 He makes wars to cease
throughout the earth;
He breaks the bow and
shatters the spear;
He burns the shields in the fire.
10 “Be still and know that
I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted over the earth.”
11 The LORD of Hosts is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.
We have a mountaintop near us that looks over The Blue Ridge Mountains
in the distance. The view is beautiful, the little park very quiet and a great
place to sit and think about God’s words to us.
He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his
nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After
making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the
Majesty on high. -Hebrews 1:3
On the days when I only get a few good photos, I reflect on the beauty
of the world and the blessings we have been given to enjoy today.
