   Movie Adaption

Introduction

I would make a modern movie day adaption to Fahrenheit 451, including characters, a
different plot but with similar structures, locations, and special effects. Since it’s the 2012
adaption, I decided to make the plot fit with the time year. I would include all the main and
supporting characters in the book to the movie, and make a better adaption than the
1960’s movie version of the book.
Character Cast

For the cast, I wanted Montag to be a full grown adult male, and I chose Patrick Dempsey
because in my mind I imagine him as Montag. He’s 45 years old, and has a solid acting
career. His most known acting role is the medical doctor in Grey’s
                      Anatomy.
For Clarrise, I picked Saorise Ronan because she’s 18 years old (similar
to the age of Clarrise), and is experianced because she was
born with acting. She is the main character from the
                      upcoming movie ‘Host’.
As for Mildred (Montag’s wife), I choose Alyson Hannigan,
Since she’s 38 years old and also has experience with acting. She is known
for a famous sitcom as a kindergarten teacher from How I Met Your Mother.
For Captain Beatty I chose Colin Firth because I imagine Beatty as a
grown male. Colin Firth is 54 years old, but is great at acting.
Character Cast
For Faber, I included Michael Caine. He won numerous awards, and his most
known role is when he featured in the 2008 movie The Dark
              Knight.
Granger’s actor is Harrison Fold because in the
novel, Granger was old enough to live the
              experience of banned books.
The old woman in the book is also included,
I chose Betty White. She is a famous actress born in 1922 who
have been in many movies.
I would also add more supporting characters other than
the main cast. For example, Mrs.Phelps, Mrs.Bowls,
                   Stoneman, and Black.
Setting

 If I had to add the setting, I would want to make the
setting in a bustling city because the novel was based
on a busy city. I chose Manhatten, New York because
it was a famous and has a busy city for the life for
 Montag.
Plot

The plot would be very similar to the novel instead of the movie. Instead, since it’s
a modern adaption…I decided to make a similar structure of the plot but with a twist. The
government will ban anything that makes fun of them, or bring a bad name to them. Also,
they will restrict internet access except for sponsored websites. The government will also ban
books that they do not approve of. People will be ignorant of that situation and agree with
the rules, but Clarrise is going to change Montag’s views. In the novel he is a firefighter, but
since this a modern adaption I made him be a police officer. He will track anyone down who
reads banned books, go to banned websites, and protest against the government. It will be
the same story structure as Fahrenheit 451, but with a modern addaption.
Special Effects

In today’s modern adaption, movies have to add special effects. I
will add CGI mechanical dogs that track down human scent. In the scene
where Montag burns Beatty, I will have a real flamethrower but fake fire.
Beatty’s body will also be computerized. Beatty’s burnt face will be
composed of latex. There is special effects for the weather this movie faces
like performed rain, snow, etc. These are the main special effects that I
will add to the modern adaption of the novel.
Conclusion

In conclusion, in my modern movie adaption I will add
character casts, the setting, the plot, and special effects. There
needs to be a character in movies to act out the plot. In my
setting, I chose a busy city to cast in. The plot will be altered
but will still remain the same. The special effects will also add
a good finishing touch to make the movie visually appealing.
Therefore, the movie will be a modern adaption to the known
novel Fahrenheit 451.
