Subject: Recommendation Mr. Grégory Coué, MSc.
Dear Ms/Mr,
It is a great pleasure to write in support of Mr. Grégory Coué, MSc., as I believe him to be a talented
academic researcher. I know Grégory Coué now since he started as a PhD student under my
supervision nearly four years ago, and I have closely cooperated with him in a number of research lines
on the development of advanced synthetic delivery systems for peptides and proteins.
Already in our first contacts, he made the impression of being a student with a good understanding of the
fundamental concepts in the field of polymer chemistry and organic chemistry. Right from the start of hid
PhD research he was also quickly learning in the highly interdisciplinary field of drug delivery, and,
remarkably, he was also very eager to follow several courses both inside as well as outside the science
disciplines. For example, to illustrate his broadness in interests, he was the only foreign student in our
laboratories that immediately took courses to learn Dutch.
Grégory Coué will finish his PhD thesis work by the end of January 2011 and without any hesitation it can
already been concluded that he has delivered an excellent performance during his 4-yr PhD track. He has
shown to be a hard working, very innovative researcher who was quite capable to overcome
independently many obstacles on the route to success. As a result, his research has been very successful
and already two excellent scientific papers about his work have appeared and the manuscripts for another
3-5 papers for publication in highly ranked international journals are underway.
Since his research project was embedded in the EC FP-6 Integrated Project (IP) Nanobiopharmaceutics
he has had the opportunity to cooperate with several researchers from different European countries,
and during the whole IP project he has shown to be an excellent networker and very good
representative of our group. At the plenary IP meetings twice a year he always gave excellent
presentations of the progress of our work, and in the two occasions I was not able to attend a general
IP meeting I could fully trust on his capabilities to substitute me in the management discussions of the
project as well.
Grégory Coué has an optimistic nature and it has always been a pleasure to work with him. I can cordially
recommend Grégory Coué since it is my sincere opinion that he has the many qualities needed to operate
excellently in both an academic and industrial environment.
Yours, sincerely,
Prof. dr. Johan F.J. Engbersen
