goes to the Congo for a job opportunity. He meets a man named Kurtz, who is well
known by many. Once he gets to the Congo, he sees colonialism first hand. He sees
that the natives of the country were practically enslaved and forced to work under
very harsh conditions. The two major characters of the novel are Marlow and Kurtz.
There are many minor characters throughout the novel as well.
The novel shows readers how black men and women are referred to in such
animalistic terms. Not even describing them as humans, but savages. They are not
given any names, to the point to that they have no identity. When Marlow speaks

This lab deals with the transpiration rates in plants, specifically a tomato plant that
was used for this experiment. Transpiration is when water leaves a plant through the
stomata as water vapor while the stomata is capturing CO2 for photosynthesis. This
experiment used three different scenarios: a tomato plant with a light shining on it, a
tomato plant with wind blowing on it from a fan, and lastly a tomato plant with
nothing acting on it. The hypothesis is that the rate of transpiration will be fastest
with light, faster with wind, and slow with the control. This hypothesis was rejected
because the rate of transpiration is as follows with the wind having the fastest rate:
with light the rate was 7.60 mm/min, with wind 10.20 mm/min, and control 4.33 mm
/min. The cause of the wind having a faster transpiration rate than the light may have
been due to the surface area of the leaves on the tomato plants. The surface area of the
leaves for the wind experiment is 8,124mm2, and for the light is 7,740mm2.By doing

(he s honestly the worst), Feri Ats watches stone faced. Borzage shoots this scene
precisely Nemecsek is plunged into the water, we see Feri Ats watching,
Nemecsek is lifted out of the water and held in the air for a few seconds so we can
see the desperation on his face. He s terrified, struggling to breathe, all while battling
a cold. It s a pitiful sight. The audiencewants someone to intervene; a child is being
tortured, someone do something! Gereb is clearly not going to do anything, so the
only choice is Feri Ats. The audience knows this, even before he does himself. This
is a key moment Borzage has to show that Nemecsek is able to affect Feri Ats with
his pureness. The audience can sense that Feri Ats has goodness. When Nemecsek
confronts Gereb, soaking wet, Borzage shoots him in a close up. It s a beautiful
shot, with soft light clearly illuminating his wet face. Compare this with the way
Gereb is lit that s more of a haze, like the light is reflecting off of Nemecsek and
hitting him. Nemecsek is a star, the beacon of light and hope. As he cries about
how he d rather die than be a traitor, even Gereb is made to feel bad. Feri Ats gives
him a hug and sends him off with a salute ( you re alright ). Once again, Nemecsek s
innocent tears aligned him with others. The first time, it was the audience. The
second time, the Red Shirts. Nemecsek walks off into the distance, the camera
lagging behind, as he passes through the archway created for him. In that moment,
even though he came to retake the flag, the enemy side is awed by his nobleness. It s
important to note that during all this, the performances of the actors are underplayed.
It s not like the characters are making big pronouncements about how they feel about
Nemecsek. Instead, the audience can simply tell from their actions.
Similarly, Nemecsek fully wins over the Paul Street Boys shortly thereafter, when
he lies and tells Gereb s father that Gereb wasn t a traitor. While everyone in the
group is initially shocked, they realize and respect Nemecsek s good intentions and

William Faulkner Questions 1 and 5 Response A clear chronology of all the events
in Emily s life can be established in order although it is hard because Faulkner
moves back and forth with the narrator and townspeople. On page 281 of A Rose
for Emily, it begins with mentioning that the whole town went to Miss Emily s
funeral. Faulkner did something with A Rose for Emily that not many would
think of doing. When a story is written in chronological order, a reader is not
surprised with the ending and it does not have a suspenseful feeling. The readers
do not gain a strong feeling with any of the characters. If the reader were to read A
Rose for Emily in chronological order then they would not be left with an eagerness.
Faulkner changes the chronological order by leaving the climax for the end of the
story. This helps give the story become even more breathtaking. In the method that
