I. Problem: How does changing the design of making a paper airplane affect the
speed of it?
II. Hypothesis: If we use different design in making a paper airplane, then it can affect
the speed of it.
Experimental Design
III. Experimental Group: Different design of a paper plane
Control Group: Normal design of paper airplane.
Independent Variable: Different design of a paper airplane.
Dependent Variable: Speed it traveled
Control Variable: Type of paper, weather, force applied to the plane.
IV. Materials:
 3pcs. of bond paper (short)
 Stopwatch
 Scissors
 Ruler
 Pencil
 Pull, push and roll
V. Procedure:
First ready all the materials needed in this experiment. After that, start folding the
first bond paper to the “Harrier de Sign”. Fold the second to the “Martin design”. And
fold the last bond paper to the “Galaxy Fighter Design”. After folding/making 3 design,
start the experiment.
Throw the first design of paper airplane which is the “Harrier Design” with normal
force applied to it. Measure it’s distance and time using a Stopwatch and a Pull, Push
and Roll then calculate the speed of the airplane using the time and distance that
you’ve gathered. Repeat the process on the “Martin and Galaxy Fighter Design”.
Record all the data that you’ve gathered on the table below.
