Mental health has been in the news quite a bit lately. Dozens of U.S. states are currently suing Meta for contributing to the youth mental health crisis by inserting addictive features into their products, while the U.S. Surgeon General is touring the nation to bring awareness to the growing epidemic of loneliness and isolation. The country has endured periods of low national morale, such as in the 1970s when high inflation and the energy crisis worsened public sentiment following the Vietnam War. The current mood, however, feels different. Gallup recently reported that national mental health is at an all-time low, with few bright spots to lift spirits.
To better understand how Americans are feeling and their attitudes towards mental health in general, ThinkNow conducted a nationally representative quantitative survey of 1,500 respondents and found some interesting differences among ethnic, age and gender groups.
Technology
For example, 52% agree that technology and social media have a negative impact on mental health, but when broken out by race, 61% of Whites felt technology had a negative effect, and only 48% of Hispanics thought it did.
While technology has helped us keep in touch with friends and family in faraway places, it appears to have degraded our ability to connect in person. Staying connected online is a double-edged sword since the same news feed that brings us pictures of the grandkids and fluffy kittens also feeds us news about the wars in Israel and Ukraine, the dysfunction in Washington, the latest mass shooting and the climate crisis.
Hispanics may have a built-in defense against the isolation technology breeds, owing to their large, multigenerational households, strong social support systems, and tendency to use social media to stay connected with relatives abroad.
Age and Gender
When asked how individuals rate their mental health, men rate it higher than women by 11 percentage points, and Baby Boomers rank it highest at 83%, saying it’s good or excellent vs. 57% of Gen Z saying the same.
Gen Z spends the most amount of time on social media, so the notion that social media negatively affects mental health appears to be correlated. Unfortunately, Gen Z is also the generation that’s least comfortable discussing mental health concerns with healthcare professionals. Only 40% of them state they’re comfortable discussing their issues with a professional compared to 60% of Millennials and 65% of Boomers.
Race Affects Attitudes
As seen in previous research conducted by ThinkNow, Asian Americans lag other groups when it comes to awareness of mental health issues. Twenty-four percent of Asian Americans believe that having a mental health issue is a sign of weakness compared to the 16% average for all groups. Asians are also considerably less likely to be aware of mental health services in their communities (42% vs. 55%) and most likely to seek out information on social media (51% vs. 35%).

4. Seleccioneu tot el document i doneu-li forma. Text justificat ( lletra Times New Roman de 12 punts ), sagnat de

3. Doneu forma al document. Text justificat ( lletra Garamond de 13 punts ) i sagnat de 1a. línia de 0,60 cm.
4. Feu la revisió ortogràfica del document: Primerament seleccioneu tot el text, després canvieu l’opció de l’idioma
( Eines / Llengua / Per a la selecció / Català ) i feu la revisió ortogràfica ( Eines / Ortografia i gramàtica ).
5. Canvieu el títol a majúscules ( Format / Canvi a majúscules/minúscules / Majúscules ) amb lletra Arial black de
9 punts, centrat i de color blau, amb contorn ( Format / Caràcter / Tipus de lletra i Efectes de lletra ).
6. Obriu la capçalera ( Format / Pàgina / Capçalera ) i seleccioneu “Activa la capçalera” i “El mateix contingut
esquerra i dreta”. Sense tancar la pestanya de la capçalera, canvieu l’espaiat a 1,5 cm.
7. Retalleu el nom de l’autor i l’edició. Traslladeu-los a la capçalera i canvieu-los a lletra Còmic Sans MS de 10
punts, de color verd 1.
8. Feu que aparegui el peu de pàgina ( veure apartat 5 de la pràctica 1 ) i seleccioneu “Activa peu de pàgina” i “El
mateix contingut esquerra i dreta”. Sense tancar la pestanya, canvieu l’espaiat a 1 cm.
9. Pagineu el document per la zona inferior dreta (veure apartat 6 de la pràctica 1).
10. Poseu en negreta i vermell la paraula lectures, tantes vegades com surti al document ( Edita / Cerca i

L’objectiu d’aquesta pràctica és treballar en altres idiomes, mitjançant el corrector ortogràfic i les taules.
Desenvolupament de la pràctica
1. Obriu el document ACT_04.
2. Feu la revisió ortogràfica (abans caldrà canviar l’opció de l’idioma a Anglès-Regne Unit).
3. Creeu un document nou i anomeneu-lo EXERCICI_5. Canvieu els seus marges a: Es= 2 cm, Dr= 1,7 cm
Su= 1 cm, In= 1,5 cm,
4. En el nou document, inseriu una taula de 7 files per 2 columnes.
5. Canvieu l’amplària de la columna esquerra a 9,5 cm. ( Taula / Propietats de taula / Columnes / ...)
6. Oculteu les vores de la taula ( Taula / Propietats de taula / Vores / Arranjament de línies / No posis vores )
7. Feu les modificacions necessàries a la taula per tal que s’assembli el màxim possible a la mostra.
8. Retalleu el text del document ACT_06 i traslladeu-lo a la taula. Feu el mateix amb els títols.
9. Inseriu les imatges que trobareu a la carpeta The Hermitage i centreu-les ( Format / Imatge / Àncora / Com a

L’objectiu d’aquesta pràctica és ampliar coneixements a l’hora de treballar amb taules.
Desenvolupament de la pràctica
1. Creeu un document nou i canvieu l’orientació del paper a posició horitzontal.
2. Inseriu una taula de 6 columnes per 14 files, i entreu la informació següent:
3. Modifiqueu l’amplada de les columnes segons la informació que contenen.
4. Seleccioneu les 13 últimes files i ordeneu les comarques pel camp SUPERFÍCIE ( Taula / Ordena / .
Columna 4 / Numèric / Descendent ).
5. Seleccioneu la primera columna i inseriu una altra a la seva dreta ( Taula / Insereix / Columnes ).
Anomeneu-la CAPITAL
6. Completeu-la columna inserida. Podeu cercar a internet els noms de les capitals
7. Poseu el nom de les comarques i les capçaleres de columna de color blanc sobre gris.
8. Inseriu una fila a l’inici de la taula i poseu el títol ( DADES COMARCALS )..
9. Centreu verticalment el text a tota la taula ( veure apartat 4 de la pràctica 4 ).
10. Modifiqueu les amplàries i alçàries de les cel·les per tal d’adaptar la taula al full sencer.
11. Doneu format lliure als diferents camps, per a fer la taula més atractiva.
12. Deseu el document amb el nom EXERCICI_6.

L’objectiu d’aquesta pràctica és la utilització tabulacions com alternativa a les taules.
Desenvolupament de la pràctica
1. Creeu un document, mitjançant les tabulacions de la regleta.
2. Caldrà clicar sobre el tipus de tabulació del costat esquerra de la regleta per seleccionar el tipus més adient.
3. Deseu-lo amb el nom EXERCICI_7.
