Ada Lovelace was an English mathematician and writer from the 19th century known for her work on Charles Babbage's early mechanical general-purpose computer, the Analytical Engine. She is regarded as the first computer programmer. Lovelace published what is considered to be the first algorithm intended to be processed by a machine, making her the first person to recognize the full potential of a "computing machine" and to publish the first algorithm for calculation by such a machine.
