2. Introduction
It’s that time of year again where we get
ready for fall fashions and accessories even
though we’re still in shorts. The heat won’t
stop us from planning our fall purchases or
the outfits they accentuate. Last year we saw
tiny purses and sunglasses. Will the “tiny”
trend continue for the fall season? No, just
the opposite.

3. This fall we are loving opulent jewelry particularly chokers and
earrings. Ear armor is in full force, covering most of the ear in bold
materials and designs. Like earrings, necklaces have also gone big,
as in materials and size. Also, there are delicate influencers, such as
rhinestones, pearls, and shells, that will certainly create statement
pieces. Let’s take a look at a few of the fall jewelry trends.

4. Chains
This season, we are seeing chains on
belts and jewelry. There are even
earnings made of chains of paper
clips! The longer the chains, the better.
They are also chunkier as seen in
Marni’s brass earrings as well as dainty
ones with gemstones and beads. Lemaire
features a two-piece chain earring as well
as twig earrings.

5. Ear Armor
There have always been ear cuffs, but this season takes them
up a level. The cuffs are extended to wrap around the helix of
the ear with various materials from beads and hoops to pearls
and gold. Gucci takes a bold step in creating armor that looks
the pieces of gold fitted onto a part of or the entire ear creating
a futuristic look.

6. Chokers
These chokers are even bolder than last year’s, which had
natural elements and shapes. They are called “badass”
chokers because of the use of chains, studs, spikes, and
leather. Great examples are from Alexander McQueen
and Marques’Almeida. On the other side of the spectrum
are the “shiny” chokers that are made of rhinestones and
other gemstones (real and fake) that come in a variety of
sizes from Halpern and Versace.

7. Ocean Jewelry
Shell jewelry or “Under the Sea” jewelry, whether
as earrings, necklaces or anklets, doesn’t have to
be worn only in the summer anymore. Many wear
them year-round thanks to intricate designs by
Anita Berisha and Chan Luu.

8. Pearls
hey have shaken their “stuffy” image and now are
used in exciting, modern designs by a number of
designers, such as STVDIO and Natasha
Schweitzer. For example, Pernille Lauridsen has a
line of pearl jewelry called “ice cream” where the
pearls look scoops of ice cream.

9. Rhinestones
Commonly used in costume jewelry, rhinestones are on
everything from earrings to brooches. You’ll see them on
large earrings and necklaces (i.e. chokers) as well as on hair
accents and belts from notable designers, such as Paco
Rabanne and Kenneth Jay Lane.
