KALOLENI EVOLUTION AND GROWTH
The 1st phase of growth (1890s-1950s) saw Kaloleni grow
from traditional settlements of the Mijikenda and the mis-
sionary church. The commercial strip was inspired by the Indi-
an shops. The 2nd phase (1950s-2000)was some parts of the
residential block around the missionary hospital and the social
hall at the current Kaloleni junction. The town had already
started growing and attracting more people from the hinter-
lands. 3rd phase(2000-now) is the current status.
