• In recent years, the Gen Z in modern society is being bombarded with information from social media that
intends to define the youth and determines their everyday decisions. Has social media in virtual reality
become an arena of 'Post-truth' which operates as consistent guidance for youth's behaviour and vision? Are
critical thinking and reasoning the useful means to help the youth to cope with the 'post-truth' era? Develop
your arguments with reference to the materials covered from lecture one to four. Expand your analysis with
your own interpretations, reasonings, and convincing evidence, etc.
• Write an essay of no more than 600 words giving your own arguments for or against this
view. You may refer to lecture 1-4 for inspiration. Reference is not required. But if you
quote, please follow the APA format.

10. AN ARGUMENTATIVE ESSAY
• Critical thinking done on paper is known as an argumentative essay which generally has four
components:
• 1. A statement of the issue – Your essay should begin with an introduction to the issue that
demonstrates that the issue is important.
• 2. A statement of one’s position on that issue
• 3. Arguments that support one’s position – All points you make should be connected to the
issue under discussion. Emphasize your position on the issue. Arguments should be arranged in
a logical sequence. STICK TO THE ISSUE. DON’T GET LOST.
