designed with MTM
methods
Set up in 2012, the Ergo-MTM
Italia Foundation is based in Va-
rese and has about 350,000
workers involved all over Italy.
The Foundation is a monitoring
centre of operating data on key
work organization parameters
(pauses, work rates, incentives,
occupational diseases, organi-
zational models and production
systems).
It supports companies with au-
diting services on levels of
work productivity and manage-
ment of ergonomic risk on the
basis of internationally recog-
nized standards (CEN/ISO
standards and World Class Pro-
ductivity benchmarks) and
works alongside trade unions
as a technical consultant in stip-
ulating supplementary labour
agreements driven by work pro-
ductivity.
HISTORYOFTHEMTM
MTM is an acronym that stands for
Methods-Time Measurement. This
method, designed in the forties,
has always played a key role in in-
dustrial development ever since it
was introduced.
Elaborated scientifically by the
US industrial engineering sector,
the MTM system was first pub-
lished in 1948 and validated
through a special study at Cornell
University in the years between
1948 and 1952. In 1951, the “MTM
Association for Research and De-
velopment” was founded in the
United States and Canada and in
1957, the “International MTM
Directorate” (IMD) was set up in
Paris. The “general objective of
the IMD and national MTM associ-
ations to develop, spread and em-
ploy knowledge concerning man
at work so as to improve his pro-
ductivity, his job satisfaction and
his working conditions” was for-
mally adopted back in 1969 in
London. The Italian MTM Associa-
tion (AMI) was founded in 1998
and the Ergo-MTM Italia Founda-
tion was set up in 2012.
GOVERNINGBODIES
The Foundation’s Board of Directors
is chaired by the general manager
Gabriele Caragnano.
The Board of Directors is made
up of authoritative representati-
ves of universities, trade unions
and leading Italian manufactu-
ring companies.
In addition to the board of founding
members, the Experts Council was
set up with two technical and scienti-
fic work groups, one to deal specifi-
cally with productivity and the other
to investigate into ergonomics.
The Ergo-MTM Italia Foundation is an
organization that unites companies,
trade unions and universities in a re-
search, training and certification pro-
ject for work measurement and bio-
mechanical load control systems. The
Foundation is a meeting place where
relations between companies and
trade unions are absolutely neutral,
with a view to harmonizing productivi-
ty and work safety.

Methods
The Ergo-MTM Italia Foundation
helps companies to elaborate the
most effective strategy to optimize
their organization and industrial pro-
ductivity, in full respect of their
workers’ dignity and safety.
To this aim, to identify each indivi-
dual phase of the production pro-
cess and measure it accurately, the
Foundation uses MTM methods for
work analysis and EAWS (Ergono-
mic Assessment Work-Sheets) for
ergonomics.
Ergo-MTM
It is a system for ba-
lancing biomechani-
cal load and satura-
tion based on the
concept of regulatory
performance and the
ergonomic limits laid down by the
CEN/ISO standards.
The fundamental characteristics of
the system are its robustness and its
objectiveness: once the work
method has been designed, the
standard times and loads are deter-
mined automatically.

ofindirectlogisticalresources.
MTM certificates issued in the world between 2005 and 2013
MTM (Methods-Time Measurement)
Work analysis, measu-
rement and design
are the three key prin-
ciples behind this
method.
MTM is an internatio-
nal system that analyses and divides
up any manual operation or method
into the elementary motions requi-
red to perform it, of which a pre-set
basic time is known.
EAWS (Ergonomic Assessment
Work-Sheet)
Engineering system for
ergonomic work design
and biomechanical
overload risk map-
ping. To respect the
laws in force, the companies must have
an engineering system for assessing
and mapping the biomechanical load
created by incorrect posture, repeated
arm actions and the manual handling of
loads. The EAWS has been adopted by
the International MTM Directorate as an
international standard, a part of the
MTM global technical platform.

SOFTWARE
The Ergo-MTM Italia Foundation is the
exclusive distributor for Italy of the
TiCon software, the most comprehen-
sive application for managing Engine-
ered Labour Standards (ELS) certified
by the International MTM Directorate.
TiCon is the most suitable and tech-
nologically advanced tool for all si-
zes and types of company. The TiCon
suite may be used to coordinate all
aspects of work, productivity and ergo-
nomics. Using a single software
package, you can design multi-layer
work cycles, optimize the relationship
between humans and technology,
conduct ergonomic analyses, balance
the load between lines and apply the
MTM model. The TiCon software is
scalable and may therefore be used in
a stand-alone configuration or on a
network by a large number of users
that share the same database. TiCon is
the only solution that implements the
Ergo-MTM model, works with the very
latest databases (MS SQL, Oracle)
and can be easily interfaced with PLM
and ERP systems (e.g. SAP, Siemens
Teamcenter Manufacturing). There is
also a SAP version of TiCon, which
works within the SAP database.

enables you to create complex processes
quicklyandstandardizetheworkmethods;
the standard transformation times determi-
ned in this way are available for the other Ti-
Con modules or for transfer to the ERP sy-
stems(calculationofcostsandestimates).
TiCon AP
The TiCon AP module integrates TiCon
Base by generating work plans and
processes (routing) and populating
them with MTM calculations. The sin-
gle steps of the process are complete
and transparent and their planning is
quick and accurate.
MTM Ergonomics
MTM Ergonomics assesses the ergono-
mic risk of the work tasks in advance
using the EAWS method. The biome-
chanical loads (stress) and costs can
thus be reduced as early as during the
designphasewithalimitedinvestment.
TiCon PD
TiCon PD is a process design tool, whi-
ch, in addition to TiCon Base, graphi-
cally models a process using a full-sca-
le GPO tool.
TiCon TAKT
TiCon Takt supports the line load balan-
cing activity using specific functions and

TiCon interfaces
In the past, the data were prone to errors
whencopiedfromonesystemtoanother.
Today, the planning tools and ERP sy-
stems communicate via on-line interfa-
ces and/or integrated data models.
Through its TiConXP interface, TiCon
provides the current data to the various
systems. TiConXP is implemented in the
32 or 64-bit options through .COM/.Net
technology.
TiCon FOR SAP
TiCon SAP, the SAP solution for
MTM, is used to conduct analyses
and perform calculations directly in
SAP, without interfaces, without an
additional database and therefore wi-
thout any data redundancy.
EAWS DIGITAL
EAWS (Ergonomic Assessment
Worksheet) is a method for scree-
ning the ergonomic risk. It can also
be used with the “pen and paper”
method and has been developed fur-
ther to obtain quick and reliable
analyses. EAWS Digital, developed
with the latest programming tools,
quickly collects the data necessary to
calculate the EAWS index.

A CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE
The Ergo-MTM Italia Foundation is re-
cognized as a centre of excellence in
the study of work and applied econo-
mics, linked to an international
network that guarantees its impartiali-
ty. Due to the research developed
through international studies, the
Foundation assesses the aspects of
work organization and the relationship
between productivity and stress with
great expertise. On the basis of its
many years of experience, the Er-
go-MTM Italia Foundation presents it-
self as a reliable partner for compa-
nies, governmental institutions,
industrial unions and trade union orga-
nizations, offering a series of services
related to the work measurement and
organization. The integrated design of
work and ergonomics and the synchro-
nization of logistics and production
processes represent the Foundation’s
principal fields of research. The Foun-
dation is responsible for and holds the
rights to the MTM course material in
Italian. Certification is a form of quality
guarantee towards the end user (com-
pany-worker) and the formalization of
specific theoretical and practical know-
ledge.
THE CERTIFICATES ISSUED BY THE FOUNDATION
Licence
A form of recognition
for participants that
have gained a practical
knowledge of a set of
techniques that, taken
together, constitute
the knowhow necessary to perform a
given task (e.g. UAS Applicator). To
obtain a licence the person must have
completed a minimum period of trai-
neeship under the supervision of a tu-
tor. The applicator licence is valid for
three years and is to be renewed by ta-
king a test. It is the most important
quality assurance for all parties invol-
ved in the process of determining the
standard production and biomechani-
cal load mapping times.

nal approach, providing a quantitative
model for assessing the various alter-
native design solutions.
MTM Office (M09, duration 3 days)
MTM Office is a functional MTM sy-
stem studied for the design and analy-
sis of cyclic office work activities. The
system is particularly effective in the
sector of services with a high concen-
tration of clerical work a large part of
which is guided by well-defined and re-
peatable procedures.
It is applied to sectors such as the ban-
king and insurance sectors and in pu-
blic administration.

Prerequisites include courses B01 and
B02 (or alternatively M01). Also in this
case, the application of MTM-2 is ideal in
series production processes, where the-
re is a good level of work organization
(two-handed analysis). Nevertheless,
MTM-2 guarantees a more rapid analy-
sisthanMTM-1.
MTM-UAS(M03,duration5days)
Knowledge required to pass the test
for certification as an MTM-UAS Appli-
cator. Prerequisites include courses
B01 and B02 (or, alternatively, M01).
The application of MTM-UAS is ideal in
batch production processes, where
there is a good level of work organiza-
tion (trained operators and specially
designed workstations). MTM-UAS is
used in batch production processes;
the speed of analysis and the support
of the standard data blocks are its
main features.

The application of MTM-MEK is ideal
MTMLogistics
(M06,duration4days)
The course teaches participants how to
apply MTM precision to logistics. In de-
tail, its objective is to train and certify
participants in the use of standard data
specific to the analysis of logistical and
managerial material handling and
transport processes. Process measu-
rement is fundamentally important for
synchronizing the logistical and pro-
ductive flows in accordance with a
common “heart beat” called TAKT.

spection processes. The quantification
of the standard time is fundamentally
important in sizing the processes in whi-
ch the operator must check a series of
qualitative characteristics with a view to
making a decision that depends on the
resultoftheinspection.

TRAINEESHIP
Theory,firstofall,butthismustbefollowed
by practice to test the skills acquired in the
field, and this is what traineeship is for. It is
performed under the supervision of a coa-
ch and can be of two types: operational for
applicators (controlled performance of the
first analyses conducted in the field, for a
minimum period of 5 days). Teaching for
the instructors (execution of a complete
course on the technique in question; the
duration is however long this course lasts).
Traineeship is not included in public cour-
ses but should be requested by each com-
pany as a personalized operation in their
departments.
THE RESEARCH CENTRE
Founded in 2014, the Research Centre
of the Ergo-MTM Italia Foundation
embarked upon its adventure as a mo-
nitoring, study and analysis centre, but
above all as a laboratory of ideas.
The Study Centre was thus the result
of the desire to improve the world of
work, spread an idea of productivity
that coincides with a higher quality of
work, greater competitiveness, rising
employment, more efficiency, a bet-
ter performance for companies and a
lot more.
Productivity is the common thread that
runs through all the research projects.
The objective is to study and analyse
the factors involved in the world of
work, Italian industry and the pro-
duction system.
WORKSHOP
The Ergo-MTM Italia Foundation desi-
gns and organizes tailor-made work-
shops for tackling a process of change
that concerns work management and
organization with competence, tran-
sparency and collaboration. A study of
the specific case lies at the base of
every workshop.
The duration varies from a minimum of
4 hours to a maximum of 3 days.
The available workshops are Er-
go-MTM trade union workshops, Pro-
ductivity management workshops and
Method Design Concept (MDC) work-
shops.

  • 3. 4 5 Who we are Gabriele Caragnano General Manager Set up in 2012 Workers all over Italy working on workstations designed with MTM methods Set up in 2012, the Ergo-MTM Italia Foundation is based in Va- rese and has about 350,000 workers involved all over Italy. The Foundation is a monitoring centre of operating data on key work organization parameters (pauses, work rates, incentives, occupational diseases, organi- zational models and production systems). It supports companies with au- diting services on levels of work productivity and manage- ment of ergonomic risk on the basis of internationally recog- nized standards (CEN/ISO standards and World Class Pro- ductivity benchmarks) and works alongside trade unions as a technical consultant in stip- ulating supplementary labour agreements driven by work pro- ductivity. HISTORYOFTHEMTM MTM is an acronym that stands for Methods-Time Measurement. This method, designed in the forties, has always played a key role in in- dustrial development ever since it was introduced. Elaborated scientifically by the US industrial engineering sector, the MTM system was first pub- lished in 1948 and validated through a special study at Cornell University in the years between 1948 and 1952. In 1951, the “MTM Association for Research and De- velopment” was founded in the United States and Canada and in 1957, the “International MTM Directorate” (IMD) was set up in Paris. The “general objective of the IMD and national MTM associ- ations to develop, spread and em- ploy knowledge concerning man at work so as to improve his pro- ductivity, his job satisfaction and his working conditions” was for- mally adopted back in 1969 in London. The Italian MTM Associa- tion (AMI) was founded in 1998 and the Ergo-MTM Italia Founda- tion was set up in 2012. GOVERNINGBODIES The Foundation’s Board of Directors is chaired by the general manager Gabriele Caragnano. The Board of Directors is made up of authoritative representati- ves of universities, trade unions and leading Italian manufactu- ring companies. In addition to the board of founding members, the Experts Council was set up with two technical and scienti- fic work groups, one to deal specifi- cally with productivity and the other to investigate into ergonomics. The Ergo-MTM Italia Foundation is an organization that unites companies, trade unions and universities in a re- search, training and certification pro- ject for work measurement and bio- mechanical load control systems. The Foundation is a meeting place where relations between companies and trade unions are absolutely neutral, with a view to harmonizing productivi- ty and work safety.
  • 4. 6 7 Why and how to join “The Italian industrial fabric is characterized by small and medium-sized com- panies that, through their high-quality products, innovation and creativity, repre- sent a pillar of our country. The Ergo-MTM Italia Foundation was created to help companies set up scientific work management systems, starting from the basi- cs; innovative and competitive systems, infrastructure indispensable for long- term sustainability.” Gabriele Caragnano, General manager of the Ergo-MTM Italia Foundation The Ergo-MTM Italia Foundation is a large reservoir of the most competent professionals perma- nently active in the field of inno- vation and in contact with interna- tional centres. Companies and trade union as- sociations find in the Foundation consulting and specialized servi- ces on a wide range of funda- mental aspects of work organiza- tion and industrial relations. These include the definition of productivity measuring parame- ters, approval of new work cycles, drafting of specialist con- tracts, check-up of productivity in accordance with international standards, competitive bench- marking and workshop organiza- tion, both in the managerial and trade union environment in sup- port of the change process. For companies It is a centre of excel- lence in training, re- search and develop- ment in the field of work and applied er- gonomics. It provi- des auditing services on work pro- ductivity and ergonomic risk management in accordance with internationally recognized stan- dards (CEN/ISO standards and World Class Manufacturing bench- marks). Finally, it is a monitoring centre of operating data on key work organization parameters. For trade unions It is a neutral certi- fying body for everything concer- ning work analysis and biomechanical A COMPREHENSIVE SERVICE FOR FULL SUPPORT IN ALL ASPECTS load control. It acts as a technical consultant in the stipulation of supplementary labour agreements driven by work productivity. For universities It is a source of in- ternational resear- ch and develop- ment projects and specific training programmes in the field of work and applied ergono- mics. It is a preferential channel for establishing partnerships between companies and univer- sities. Finally, it promotes fun- ding for study grants, coordina- tes and supports the development of university dis- sertations on subjects related to work and work organization. Companies can make unlimited use of the Foundation, finding solutions, products and services for their every need
  • 5. 8 9 Methods The Ergo-MTM Italia Foundation helps companies to elaborate the most effective strategy to optimize their organization and industrial pro- ductivity, in full respect of their workers’ dignity and safety. To this aim, to identify each indivi- dual phase of the production pro- cess and measure it accurately, the Foundation uses MTM methods for work analysis and EAWS (Ergono- mic Assessment Work-Sheets) for ergonomics. Ergo-MTM It is a system for ba- lancing biomechani- cal load and satura- tion based on the concept of regulatory performance and the ergonomic limits laid down by the CEN/ISO standards. The fundamental characteristics of the system are its robustness and its objectiveness: once the work method has been designed, the standard times and loads are deter- mined automatically. WORK ANALYSIS AND ERGONOMICS UAS 8,467 37% MEK 1,835 8% SAM 1,001 4% MTM-2 1,974 8% MTM-1 9,178 40% EAWS 693 3% PROKON Analytical tool for im- proving the manu- facturing process du- ring the product design phase. It is al- so an effective opti- mization method used to reduce co- sts when there are still major, economical opportunities for ma- king changes. MTM-Logistics System for the functio- nalanalysisoftaskscon- cerning the handling and transportation of materials. MTM Logisti- cs defines the interna- tionalstandardsconcerningthespeedof vehicles used to transport materials and can be used to measure the efficiency ofindirectlogisticalresources. MTM certificates issued in the world between 2005 and 2013 MTM (Methods-Time Measurement) Work analysis, measu- rement and design are the three key prin- ciples behind this method. MTM is an internatio- nal system that analyses and divides up any manual operation or method into the elementary motions requi- red to perform it, of which a pre-set basic time is known. EAWS (Ergonomic Assessment Work-Sheet) Engineering system for ergonomic work design and biomechanical overload risk map- ping. To respect the laws in force, the companies must have an engineering system for assessing and mapping the biomechanical load created by incorrect posture, repeated arm actions and the manual handling of loads. The EAWS has been adopted by the International MTM Directorate as an international standard, a part of the MTM global technical platform.
  • 6. 10 11 Services TRAINING AND CERTIFICATION FOR SPECIALISTS, MANAGERS AND TRADE UNIONS The Ergo-MTM Italia Foundation is re- sponsible for and holds the rights to the MTM course material in Italian. The certification and resulting licence are a form of quality guarantee for the end user (company-worker) and the formalization of specific theoretical (certificate) and practical (licence) knowledge. PRODUCTIVITY CHECK-UP This procedure serves to quickly mea- sure the potential for improving the productivity of direct work in accor- dance with the international reference standards. The principal objective of this proce- dure is to elaborate an improvement plan indicating priorities, times and objectives. • 7. 12 13 Products and support SOFTWARE The Ergo-MTM Italia Foundation is the exclusive distributor for Italy of the TiCon software, the most comprehen- sive application for managing Engine- ered Labour Standards (ELS) certified by the International MTM Directorate. TiCon is the most suitable and tech- nologically advanced tool for all si- zes and types of company. The TiCon suite may be used to coordinate all aspects of work, productivity and ergo- nomics. Using a single software package, you can design multi-layer work cycles, optimize the relationship between humans and technology, conduct ergonomic analyses, balance the load between lines and apply the MTM model. The TiCon software is scalable and may therefore be used in a stand-alone configuration or on a network by a large number of users that share the same database. TiCon is the only solution that implements the Ergo-MTM model, works with the very latest databases (MS SQL, Oracle) and can be easily interfaced with PLM and ERP systems (e.g. SAP, Siemens Teamcenter Manufacturing). There is also a SAP version of TiCon, which works within the SAP database. SUPPORT The Ergo-MTM Italia Foundation offers a technical support service in Italian as wellasbeingtheofficialdistributorofthe TiConandTiConSAPsoftwarepackages. TiCon FOR WINDOWS TiCon Base TiConBaseisusedtoquicklyconductMTM analysesanddeterminethetimesofeachin- dividual phase of the process. The product comprises the basic elements and data fol- dersoftheMTM-1,MTM-2,UAS,MEK,MTM OfficeSystem,VisualinspectionsandLogisti- cs systems. Its multi-layer data aggregation enables you to create complex processes quicklyandstandardizetheworkmethods; the standard transformation times determi- ned in this way are available for the other Ti- Con modules or for transfer to the ERP sy- stems(calculationofcostsandestimates). TiCon AP The TiCon AP module integrates TiCon Base by generating work plans and processes (routing) and populating them with MTM calculations. The sin- gle steps of the process are complete and transparent and their planning is quick and accurate. MTM Ergonomics MTM Ergonomics assesses the ergono- mic risk of the work tasks in advance using the EAWS method. The biome- chanical loads (stress) and costs can thus be reduced as early as during the designphasewithalimitedinvestment. TiCon PD TiCon PD is a process design tool, whi- ch, in addition to TiCon Base, graphi- cally models a process using a full-sca- le GPO tool. TiCon TAKT TiCon Takt supports the line load balan- cing activity using specific functions and thetimedataofthesingleworkphasesde- termined using the Base module. Each elementoftheprocessdescribesaquanti- tyofworkthatcannotbepracticallysubdi- videdbetweentwoworkers.Iftheproduct/ process and/or production plan changes, thebalancecanbeupdatedataclick. TiCon interfaces In the past, the data were prone to errors whencopiedfromonesystemtoanother. Today, the planning tools and ERP sy- stems communicate via on-line interfa- ces and/or integrated data models. Through its TiConXP interface, TiCon provides the current data to the various systems. TiConXP is implemented in the 32 or 64-bit options through .COM/.Net technology. TiCon FOR SAP TiCon SAP, the SAP solution for MTM, is used to conduct analyses and perform calculations directly in SAP, without interfaces, without an additional database and therefore wi- thout any data redundancy. EAWS DIGITAL EAWS (Ergonomic Assessment Worksheet) is a method for scree- ning the ergonomic risk. It can also be used with the “pen and paper” method and has been developed fur- ther to obtain quick and reliable analyses. EAWS Digital, developed with the latest programming tools, quickly collects the data necessary to calculate the EAWS index.

EAWS(E01,duration8days) Knowledge necessary to pass the test for certification as an EAWS Applica- tor. There are no actual prerequisites but we recommend participants have completed course M03 (MTM-UAS). The application of EAWS permits a preventive, design approach to the control of biomechanical load in all its fundamental components (posture, forces, handling of loads and repeated arm motions). COMPLEMENTARY SPECIALIST COURSES Standard data construction principles (M05,duration2days) They are fundamental elements in Engi- neered Labour Standard (ELS) con- struction in that they permit the standar- dizationofworkprocessesanddrastically reduce the deviation of the applicator in analysing work and increasing the speed ofanalysis, thusfacilitatingtheworkcycle estimationandmaintenancephase. PROKON(M08,duration2days) Workshop in which the team of partici- pants is trained through a series of con- crete examples to assess the efficacy of a design solution of a given product subset with regard to ease of assembly (design for assembly). PROKON is hi- ghly effective when applied in the early phases of the development of a new productandsupportsthecross-functio- nal approach, providing a quantitative model for assessing the various alter- native design solutions. MTM Office (M09, duration 3 days) MTM Office is a functional MTM sy- stem studied for the design and analy- sis of cyclic office work activities. The system is particularly effective in the sector of services with a high concen- tration of clerical work a large part of which is guided by well-defined and re- peatable procedures. It is applied to sectors such as the ban- king and insurance sectors and in pu- blic administration. certification as an MTM-2 Applicator. Prerequisites include courses B01 and B02 (or alternatively M01). Also in this case, the application of MTM-2 is ideal in series production processes, where the- re is a good level of work organization (two-handed analysis). Nevertheless, MTM-2 guarantees a more rapid analy- sisthanMTM-1. MTM-UAS(M03,duration5days) Knowledge required to pass the test for certification as an MTM-UAS Appli- cator. Prerequisites include courses B01 and B02 (or, alternatively, M01). The application of MTM-UAS is ideal in batch production processes, where there is a good level of work organiza- tion (trained operators and specially designed workstations). MTM-UAS is used in batch production processes; the speed of analysis and the support of the standard data blocks are its main features. MTM-MEK(M04,duration5days) Notions necessary to pass the test for certification as an MTM-MEK Appli- cator. A prerequisite is course B01. The application of MTM-MEK is ideal MTMLogistics (M06,duration4days) The course teaches participants how to apply MTM precision to logistics. In de- tail, its objective is to train and certify participants in the use of standard data specific to the analysis of logistical and managerial material handling and transport processes. Process measu- rement is fundamentally important for synchronizing the logistical and pro- ductive flows in accordance with a common “heart beat” called TAKT. MTM for Visual Inspections (M07, duration 4 days) Theaimofthecourseistotrainandcerti- fyparticipantsintheuseofstandarddata specific for the analysis of visual in- spection processes. The quantification of the standard time is fundamentally important in sizing the processes in whi- ch the operator must check a series of qualitative characteristics with a view to making a decision that depends on the resultoftheinspection.

It is performed under the supervision of a coa- ch and can be of two types: operational for applicators (controlled performance of the first analyses conducted in the field, for a minimum period of 5 days). Teaching for the instructors (execution of a complete course on the technique in question; the duration is however long this course lasts). Traineeship is not included in public cour- ses but should be requested by each com- pany as a personalized operation in their departments. THE RESEARCH CENTRE Founded in 2014, the Research Centre of the Ergo-MTM Italia Foundation embarked upon its adventure as a mo- nitoring, study and analysis centre, but above all as a laboratory of ideas. The Study Centre was thus the result of the desire to improve the world of work, spread an idea of productivity that coincides with a higher quality of work, greater competitiveness, rising employment, more efficiency, a bet- ter performance for companies and a lot more. Productivity is the common thread that runs through all the research projects. The objective is to study and analyse the factors involved in the world of work, Italian industry and the pro- duction system. WORKSHOP The Ergo-MTM Italia Foundation desi- gns and organizes tailor-made work- shops for tackling a process of change that concerns work management and organization with competence, tran- sparency and collaboration. A study of the specific case lies at the base of every workshop. The duration varies from a minimum of 4 hours to a maximum of 3 days. The available workshops are Er- go-MTM trade union workshops, Pro- ductivity management workshops and Method Design Concept (MDC) work- shops.
