Adeline faces many obstacles like an abusive stepmother called Niang, a father who neglects her by not remembering her name, and siblings who bully her. She strives to earn her father's love through academic excellence despite facing neglect from her family. Niang treats Adeline poorly and ensures she receives no care, attention, or proper clothing from her father.

Adeline is the main character in the story and she
meets with many obstacles like a evil Niang, a
father who does not even remember her name
and siblings that make fun of her by giving her
urine to drink and Niang’s kids who enjoy all the
privileges that they want
