3. FOODS
-Rice and Beans (sometimes called rice and
peas) is a common traditional dish made from
- you guessed it! - rice and beans. It's
generally flavored with herbs and spices, and
is one of the most popular foods of the Virgin
Islands among local people. Flavored rice by
itself (without the beans) is also popular,
usually as a side-dish

In the Virgin Islands you can hear Caribbean
rhythms, intoxicating steel drums, high-energy
dance music, spiritual hymns, soca, reggae, blues,
salsa, meringue, jazz, classical and an assortment
of other music genres. While a variety of music
types are played in the Virgin Islands, it is
calypso, soca, reggae and steel pan beats that are
the sounds of the Caribbean must often heard.
Bob Marley brought reggae music to the United
States. Reggae was originally dance music.
5. Economic Aspect
Some tourist attractions are snorkeling,
shopping, and shore excursions. It influences
the United States by St. Thomas having a lot of
tourist attractions attract people from the US
to come there.
6. Current Standard of living of
people
The cost of living in the Virgin Islands is higher
than average costs in cities across the US
mainland. The poverty rate in St. Thomas is
28.9% (2002) which is less than what we have
in the US. They don’t export any gas which
affects us except that there are more
countries that we can get gas from.
