highly recommended to inform the sports staff office as soon as possible.
• To submit a request, the TEAM CAPTAIN ONLY must email the Graduate
Assistant of Competitive Sports with what your original scheduled game is,
why your team cannot make that time, and when are you available that day
or the next few days and times. In order for your request to be best
considered, it must be submitted by 4 PM the day PRIOR to the scheduled
game.
• Please keep in mind that NOT all requests can be granted
9. In the event that a reschedule cannot happen
Default
• i. A default occurs when a team shows up
to the game site WITH AT LEAST 3 Players
or 50% of the minimum needed, but
cannot field enough players to compete
in their scheduled contest, and the 10
minute grace period has expired.
• ii. If you/your team know in advance that
you cannot play in your contest, you must
contact the Graduate Assistant for
Competitive Sports by phone/email
before 4:00pm on the day of your
scheduled game, and 4:00pm on Friday
for weekend games.
Forfeit
• When less than 3 players have arrived
after the 10 minute game clock ends
• Each minute late is a certain point
penalty, please check specific sports
• 10 minute clock will stop when
enough players have arrived
• Your team will be removed from their
division and placed at the end of the
waitlist if your team forfeits
• All teams who forfeit two days of
games will be removed from the
league
10. 3 Ways to Forfeit
• No show forfeit
• Explained previously
• Ineligible player
• If an ineligible player plays in a game, the team will forfeit that game and
receive a 0 sportsmanship rating
• Unsportsmanlike forfeit
• Unsportsmanlike forfeit that give a 0 (F) sportsmanship rating can result from
but not limited to:
• Three unsportsmanlike penalties (yellow card, technical, unsportsmanlike conduct)
• Fighting
• Threatening a staff member
11. Team Sportsmanship Grade Scale
• 2.5 (B minus average) is required for playoff eligibility!
• “A” -“4” - Normal Game
• Ex. Questioning an official on rule interpretation only. Players act respectful and reasonable toward themselves, their
opponents, and staff.
• “B” - “3” - Some Static
• Team representatives verbally complain about some decisions made by the game officials and/or minor dissension which
may or may not merit an unsportsmanlike conduct foul.
• “C” - “2” - Difficult
• Below average sportsmanship was displayed during the contest either by team members and or spectators. Conduct that
is penalized by more than a simple verbal warning including a yellow card or technical foul. Team members were not at a
level out of control but were beyond the limit of average.
• “D” - “1” – Harassment
• A sportsmanship of 1 reflects a team who had little to no control over team members and spectators. The team
constantly showcased questionable activity and showed no respect for the opposition and/or all staff. The ejection of a
player will result in that player’s team gaining a maximum of 1 in sportsmanship for that contest. Teams with multiple
unsportsmanlike conduct penalties will receive a maximum of 1 in sportsmanship for that contest
• “F” - “0” – Unsportsmanlike Forfeit
• Includes any game in which a team is ejected for fighting and/or a specified number of unsportsmanlike penalties in a
single game. Also includes threatening of a staff member or failure to comply with staff requests.
• No Rating
• For instances where a team “no show” forfeits, defaults, or wins by default/forfeit.
12. Individual Sportsmanship
• Ejection from an intramural contest includes but not limited to:
• Two (2) unsportsmanlike fouls during a game
• Three (3) unsportsmanlike fouls during the season
• Threatening, hostile behavior
• Ejected participant/spectator must be out of sight and sound for
game to continue or their team will be issued a forfeit.
• Ejected participant/spectator is also not admitted to the Fitness and
Wellness Center as well as other Campus Recreation Programs and
Activities
• That person must schedule a meeting with the Graduate Assistant of
Competitive Sports in order to be considered for reinstatement.
13. Protests
• AN OFFICIAL’S JUDGEMENT CALL CANNOT BE PROTESTED!
• Only two issues may be protested
• Player eligibility: Questions of eligibility can be protested throughout the
Intramural season or tournament. Those intending to protest possible
ineligibility are strongly encouraged to state their intent prior to the start of
any contest.
• Rule Misinterpretation Protest: The first step is to register a verbal protest
with the official and the Intramural Supervisors, before the next play occurs.
The scorekeeper, official and supervisor will record the protest on the score
sheet including all information pertinent to the game. The protest will be
handled at the time it was protested.
