It will expand the Waterfront on both sides of Dock Road and around the existing Battery Park. The 10.5 hectare development will improve connectivity between the Waterfront and city center. Some buildings may reach 60 meters to increase floor space within height limits. The development was approved after consideration of relevant plans and guidelines to support long-term economic growth and job creation in Cape Town.

P1 EFF STATEMENT ON JOHANNESBURG MAYORAL CANDIDATE Tuesday, 26 November 2019 The Economic Freedom Fighters will nominate Musa Novela for position of Executive Mayor of Johannesburg on Thursday the 28th of November 2019. The nomination follows the EFF decision that our Governance experience and understanding of the inner workings of government at all levels, and our correct manifesto priorities place the EFF as the most suitable organisation to lead the City of Johannesburg. Fighter Musa Novela is the current Chairperson of the EFF in Johannesburg and has been EFF leader in Johannesburg since the inception of the EFF in 2013. From 2016, Musa Novela was elected Councillor for the City of Johannesburg and has been the EFF Caucus Leader in Council. Under his and the Regional Command Team’s collective, the EFF has achieved tremendous victories when Herman Mashaba was a Mayor of a coalition government in the City. The EFF inspired victories include the insourcing of workers, opening of clinics for 24 hours, introduction of mobile clinics to cater for poorer communities and informal settlements, better working conditions and terms for the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police, prioritisation of poorer areas in terms of budgeting of the City, allocation of service stands, approval of the City’s support for students’ accommodation, and many other victories. Fighter Musa Novela holds a National higher certificate in Local Governance from the University of Johannesburg (UJ) and a National Diploma in Analytical Chemistry from Tshwane University of Technology (TUT).

Fighter Novela is a public representative of integrity and is ready to lead JOHANNESBURG in a manner that will appreciate that the 2016 local government elections did not produce an outright winner. The EFF collective leadership has utmost confidence in the capacity, commitment and political will of Fighter Musa Novela to lead the City towards jobs and service delivery. We are particularly convinced that he will be able to marshal all political parties towards a common agenda and programme of building a better City.
