This document summarizes Meredith Eastburn's graduate thesis project exploring the relationship between teaching artists' art and teaching practices. She conducted interviews and observations of three teaching artists with different approaches to integrating or separating their practices. Her analysis found each relationship was unique and varied over time and contexts. She recommends teaching artists embrace flexibility and see themselves as learners who collaboratively make meaning through interactive practices that challenge traditional systems.
