Charles and Ray Eames originally designed their Molded Plastic chairs in metal in 1948 and later changed the material to fiberglass in 1950 and now polypropylene, continually updating based on new materials. Their goal was for the chair design to evolve as materials advanced. While Charles was dissatisfied with the fiberglass version, the matte finish he desired was finally achieved after his death using new materials. The deep seat and waterfall edge of the Eames chair keep the sitter comfortable.
