3. Greece! Our country! We are in the most southern edge of Europe.
Wonderful country taking you into its tradition and civilization. Athens
is the Capital City and Salonika is the 2nd largest city.
Greece offers many beautiful islands full of magnificent beaches and
lots of tourists in the summer. The biggest island is Crete whereas
some of the Greek islands, like Santorin, Corfu, Rhodes, Mikonos,
are known worldwide.

5. Our history is rich. Titans, Giants,
Gods of Olympus, heroes
comprise our exquisite
mythology. Birthplace of drama
and philosophy, Greece boats its
ancient monuments and sights.
The Parthenon in Athens and the
White Tower in Salonika are just
a few.

7. XANTHI
Our town is small but beautiful .It is located
in Northern Greece, in Thrace .It was named
after an amazon reigning over the place and
who was called “Xanthi”.

8. Xanthi combines contemporary and traditional architecture. On one
side is the Central Square with the clock and the fountains, on
the other side is the Old Town with well-preserved mansions since the days
when tobacco was produced.
People of different religions, customs and traditions
live in our town. The Christians and the Muslims co-
exist in harmony.

9. The most important cultural festival are :”The Carnival” ,” Youth festival”,
“Manos Chatzidakis’s festival” and finally “The Old Town Festival”.

10. Xanthi is called “the town with a thousand colours” and is
the ideal place for anyone to visit and enjoy its sightseeing.

12. OUR SCHOOL
Our school is the Second Primary School and stands in a
peaceful neighbourhood near the entrance of the town.
It was built in 1932. A new building and prefab rooms have
been added recently after the boom increase in the number
of students. There are 267 students and 27 teachers in our
school as well as 13 classes.

13. It is a two- stored building. It has a teacher’s office, a
computer lab, a school day care classroom and an
Assembly Hall (for Physical Education).

14. In the front school yard, there are flower beds and a playground. In
the back school yard, there is a basketball court (volleyball) and a
football pitch (handball). There is a small wood with pines and cypress
trees, which is the pride of our school.
