Dogs wait a year for a new home
Female dog Harrietta and male dog Seal are two of more than 100 animals at the SPCA
shelter waiting for a new home.
The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) is publishing their pictures this
week in the hope that some kind person will adopt them. The adoption fee for Harrietta or
Seal is only $20.
Both dogs came to SPCA as strays. Harrietta has stayed at the shelter for more than one year
and Seal for more than 10 months. The dogs are healthy and very friendly and enjoy the
attention they receive from visitors. They love to wag their tails and poke their noses
through their cage door for a pat.
Despite their good temperament, these dogs have so far been overlooked for adoption
because of their injuries. Many people do not realise that injured dogs can make loving pets
and do well to protect their owner’s property.
Seal’s front right leg was broken when it was hit by a car. It has healed well and he can walk
on it but it has a noticeable deformity. When Harrietta came to SPCA last year her left eye
was so severely damaged that it had to be removed.
Both dogs have suffered and deserve a good life outside the shelter. SPCA is open everyday
and visitors are welcome to meet Harrietta and Seal and the many other healthy and
friendly animals ready for adoption.
Contact SPCA if you would like to adopt a dog or cat. Phone our Suva shelter on 330 1266.
Our WestSPCA clinic in Nadi does not have shelter facilities but occasionally receives
surrendered animals and strays. Phone 9363 977. Apologies for the inconvenience caused by
the recent misprint of our Nadi clinic contact details.
