This document discusses document search and indexing-based document search systems. The goal of document search is to find documents relevant to an information need from a large collection of documents. Indexing-based document search systems create indexes of documents and queries which are then used to evaluate representations of documents and queries, typically as keywords, to generate an ordered list of relevant documents as answers. The document provides an example of Google as an indexing-based document search system operating on the web.
