What is vocal warm ups?
Vocal warm ups is an exercise which helps develop and
maintain a strong and healthy voice for singing. Doing
these warm up exercise will help you to build a strong set
of vocals as well as training a very important set of
muscles called the vocal cords.
There are different types of vocal exercise which we use
to get the voice ready to sing there are the breathing
exercise, humming exercise, lip roll/trill, tongue trill and
the me exercise
The breathing exercise
The breathing exercise is an essential start to any vocal
warms. They organise the breathing muscles making them
feel relax; extend the capacity of the voice by breathing in
and out and it gives a sense of the breath very deep inside
the body.
For using the breathing exercise you put your hands on
your stomach inhale for a few and exhale feeling your
stomach release the air

The humming exercise is a beneficial vocal
warm up routine which considers the word
‘’hmmmmm’’. As you do this the pitch
becomes higher which progresses that make
you feel sense of buzzing experience in your

up your vocals which allow you to get a light gentle
compression in your voice. To do the lip bubble you
must take your fingers and place them on the side of
your cheeks then blow though your lip so they bubble..

Tongue trill is an vocal warm up that
help to balance the air and muscles
so that you well be able to sing
fluently. Tongue trill are quite similar
to the lip bubble but the tongue may
be place on the tip of gum to make a
‘’drrrrrrr’’ sound.

Techniques
Dehydration occurs when more fluid is lost from the body than
it is taken in. This causes when the imbalance important
minerals such as sodium and potassium which are required
for the muscle and nerve function. Not drinking enough
water can also cause dehydration. Our body is made up of
70 percent of water which keeps us hydrate but
sometime we can loss water which makes us because
dehydrated. The main symptom of dehydration includes
having a Dry mouth, eyes and lips, Headache, Tiredness,
Dizziness or light-headedness, Decreased urine output,
Muscle weakness.

As a musician it very important that we drink a lot of
water as going this will make you feel properly hydrated
and would be able to perform well.
When doing gigs, in the studio and perform we tend to
become very Dehydrate because we have drink enough
water but to much caffeine the recommended amount
of water should be taken every day which is eight
glasses.
Drinking caffeine is good for you because it can hydrate
most of the times you can get dehydrated because of
drinking too much caffeine and no water at all.
There are two types of dehydration. There are isotonic and
hypernatraemic dehydration.
Isotonic dehydration is cause when water and salt are
lost in the same proportion as it presents fluid
surrounding our cells. This type of dehydration is cause
by diarrhoea.
Hypernatraemic dehydration usually affects infants or
children when there are high levels of salt in the blood.
Hypernatraemic also means where more water is loses
than salt in the body.
