John Sulzbach recently started a tree care company called Proper Tree in Killingworth, CT. He holds an arborist license from the state of Connecticut. Early spring is the optimal time to plant new fruit trees or fertilize existing trees. Gardeners should clear dead fruit and leaves from the base of fruit trees to prevent decay and damage. Pruning dead branches before buds form or leaves appear helps trees grow healthily. Horticultural experts recommend spraying dormant oil or using insect traps in early spring to control mites, scale, and pests before populations increase.
This document provides tips for rescuing and maintaining tall fescue lawns. It discusses choosing the right grass variety based on environmental conditions and intended use. It also offers guidance on managing weeds, pests and diseases through practices like soil testing, fertilizing in the fall and spring, aerating, and applying pre-emergent herbicides at the right times. The document emphasizes establishing a healthy lawn and maintaining fescue by mowing tall, watering properly, and following a fertilization schedule.

When you own a home, your yard is a source of pride. However, a pristine lawn comes at a cost. Not only does a homeowner have to spend countless hours and dollars ensuring the grass stays lush and green, lawns consume a startling amount of water and have a generally negative impact on the ecosystem around it.

Wondering which plants can keep your garden popping during the wintry chill? Check out this list of plants that will give your garden a sense of life during the season.
The average American throws away 3.5 pounds of garbage per day and roughly 1.5 million tons of plastic is used to bottle 89 billion liters of water each year. Recycling paper, bottles, and cans helps reduce waste, saves energy and resources. Producing recycled paper creates 74% less air pollution and 75% less energy usage than producing new paper. The document encourages reducing waste by reusing containers and purchasing recycled products to help the environment.
Fallen leaves provide many benefits to gardens and the environment if left on the property rather than being disposed of. Leaves form a natural mulch that suppresses weeds and fertilizes the soil as they break down, and their removal eliminates vital habitat for wildlife. Sending leaves to landfills is wasteful and harmful as the decomposing leaves release greenhouse gases. It is better for the environment and gardens to leave leaves where they fall or use them as mulch rather than bagging and disposing of them.
The document outlines goals and steps to save the planet. It discusses how the Earth is the only planet that supports life and helped humans survive. The goals are to protect the environment, conserve natural resources, and create a livable planet for future generations. The document provides steps to conserve water and energy, grow more trees, recycle waste, ban polythene, and use renewable resources.
This newsletter from Omni Tree Service discusses why leaves change color in the fall. It explains that as days grow shorter and cooler in autumn, trees decrease chlorophyll production which allows other pigments like carotenoids and anthocyanins to show through, producing the vibrant yellows, oranges and reds. These accessory pigments have always been present in the leaves but are normally masked by green chlorophyll. In certain trees like Sugar Maple, favorable weather conditions allow anthocyanins to accumulate and intensify the red colors. Proper fertilization through a plant health care program can help trees overcome stress and remain healthy.
Americans throw away enough paper and plastic cups, forks, and spoons each year to circle the equator 300 times. They also use 1 billion shopping bags each year, creating 300,000 tons of landfill waste. Recycling saves 3 to 5 times more energy than waste-to-energy plants and recycling 1 ton of mixed paper saves the energy equivalent of 185 gallons of gasoline. The document encourages using reusable water bottles, grocery bags, and recycling to reduce waste.
New gardeners may be overwhelmed in the fall by all the dead plants and new tree growth and not know where to begin when taking stock of their yard. This document provides guidance on tasks gardeners can do in the fall to prepare, including collecting non-organic debris, doing simple repairs, cutting back most flowers and foliage to above the soil, and adding cuttings to a compost pile. It cautions not to cut back certain plants like grasses and ferns. The document also offers tips on fall tree trimming to improve health, shape growth, and prevent disease.

Florists and landscaping experts do not consider dethatching as a light chore. Most homeowners use elbow grease and special equipment rental to dethatch their lawns, but professionals insist these do not make the cut. The payback, they say, will be enormous in improving lawn health.
This document discusses fruits and vegetables grown in different seasons in India and around the world. It lists fruits like mangoes, grapes, oranges that are grown in India along with vegetables like bitter gourd and okra. For winter, it mentions fruits include guava, kiwifruit and oranges and vegetables like avocados and collard greens. For autumn it lists apples, pears, plums and vegetables like broccoli, carrots and onions. It also provides brief discussions on seasonal ailments in different parts of the year.
Drought Stress - Master Gardeners Frederick County, MarylandFabienne22Q
The document discusses drought stress in plants and provides tips for identifying and avoiding drought conditions in landscapes. It notes that Frederick County has experienced drought for the past three springs. Trees are more drought tolerant than shrubs and flowers due to their deeper roots. Drought stress can lead to pest problems the following year. Signs of drought include wilting in sunny annual flowers and lawn grass. The document recommends observing indicator plants and watering the entire landscape if signs of drought appear. It provides tips for conserving water such as mulching, infrequent deep watering, and directing water to plants.
The document argues that paper is not as environmentally unfriendly as commonly believed. It notes that over half of paper in the US is recycled, most of the energy to make paper comes from renewable biofuels, and paper companies use leftovers from the papermaking process to generate bioenergy. It also states that trees are a renewable resource, fiber for paper comes from trees grown as crops, and private landowners have an incentive to grow trees for harvesting to maintain their land rather than selling for development. The document encourages reserving valuable content for print since it is portable and does not require power, and recycling paper is easier than recycling electronics.

Pruning fruit trees requires different techniques than other landscape trees. Proper pruning helps improve fruit quality by maximizing light exposure, distributing fruiting wood, controlling tree size and health, reducing limb breakage, and increasing air flow. Pruning is usually done during dormancy from January through March to establish the tree structure and remove damaged or diseased branches, though some summer pruning may also be needed. Tools must be disinfected between cuts to prevent disease spread.
MGN 231 suman lovely professional UniversitySumanSk6
Suman SK completed a community development project called "Adopt a Plant" where they planted trees. The certificate recognizes Suman's hard work and 25+ hours spent on the project managed by Vikas Chavhan of the Tree for Life Foundation. Suman's report discusses the importance of tree planting, including how trees produce oxygen, improve air quality, provide resources for people, and protect the environment by reducing pollution and global warming. Suman shares their experience of planting a neem tree with their father and grandfather at their grandfather's farm.
Landscape maintenance includes watering, fertilizing, mulching, pest control, mowing, edging, winterization and pruning plants. Watering should be done frequently when plants are first planted to prevent wilting, then less as plants are established. Fertilizer should be mixed in at planting and added to established plants as needed. Mulch should be replenished as it decays. Pest control prevents damage from insects, diseases and weeds. Pruning improves plant health, appearance and controls size/shape, with timing depending on plant type. A variety of tools are used for different pruning tasks.
Training and pruning fruit trees is important to develop a strong tree framework that supports high fruit production. Proper training involves developing a central leader with multiple scaffold whorls of branches spaced uniformly around the tree. During the first years, summer pruning is used to select the central leader and scaffold branches, and spread branches to improve branch angles. Dormant pruning thereafter maintains the tree shape by heading back the leader and lateral branches between scaffold whorls. Well-trained trees with open canopies have higher fruit quality and longer lifespans than untrained trees.
Saving trees is important to the society especially for the future generations
The problem is, people cut down trees without even thinking what could happen. More likely for the next generations, there will be no more fresh oxygen for them to breath.

Trees provide numerous environmental, economic, and social benefits. They absorb carbon dioxide and other pollutants, producing oxygen. Trees help cool areas and conserve energy by providing shade. They also absorb stormwater runoff and prevent soil erosion. Beyond these practical benefits, trees have been shown to improve mental and physical health. By planting and caring for trees, communities can realize cost savings, increased property values, and a higher quality of life.
Pruning enhances your garden's visual appeal by keeping plants neat and well-formed. Whether you prefer a formal, structured look or a more natural, free-flowing design, regular pruning helps you achieve and maintain your desired garden style. A well-pruned garden looks cared for and can significantly improve the overall beauty of your outdoor space.
Growing Peaches in Northern Illinois is a power point presentation given at the Chicago Botanical Gardens in February of 2008 by Dennis Norton of Royal Oak Farm.
This document provides guidance on planting trees to expand or renew backyard woods. It discusses selecting native tree species adapted to the local climate and site conditions, preparing the site by controlling existing vegetation, properly spacing trees for growth, and handling and planting bare root tree stock. The goal is to select trees that will meet objectives like attracting wildlife, enhancing aesthetics, or protecting water quality, and will grow well in the soil, sunlight, and moisture conditions of the planting area. Care must be taken in storing, transporting, and planting bare root tree stock to avoid damaging the roots.

The document is a request from residents of Lee Drive in Menlo Park to deny variances for a proposed construction project at 947 Lee Drive. It summarizes that the proposed 2,600 square foot home would be dramatically larger than surrounding homes and have a building density 2-4 times higher. It argues the large home would not preserve the unique, park-like setting of small homes on small lots surrounded by heritage trees.
Residents of Lee Drive in Menlo Park are opposing a request for variances that would allow construction of a 2,600 square foot home on a substandard 4,792 square foot lot at 947 Lee Drive. They argue the large home would be dramatically out of scale with the surrounding smaller homes situated on similarly small lots. At over 50% lot coverage, the proposed home would have 2-4 times higher density than the other 7 properties on the cul-de-sac. The residents are asking the applicant to reduce the home size to be more consistent with the existing neighborhood character of small homes surrounded by trees.
