Djibouti is a country located in the Horn of Africa. The capital and largest city is also named Djibouti, with a population of 477,000 people. French and Arabic are the official languages. Djibouti was formerly a French territory until gaining independence in 1977. It has a land area slightly larger than Wales and is bordered by Ethiopia, Eritrea, and Somalia. The highest point is Mount Mousa Ali and the longest river is the Assal.
