Tyrannosaurus rex was the largest carnivorous dinosaur, growing up to 40 feet long and weighing up to 7 tons as an adult. Stegosaurus had bony plates along its back and a spiked tail, which made it well-armored for defense against predators. Pterosaurs were flying reptiles with leathery wings that were not dinosaurs, but lived alongside them during the late Jurassic and early Cretaceous periods.
