OUTSTANDING PRODUCT QUALITY & CONSISTENCY

Jean Dale founded Frank Dale in 1994 with husband Peter and daughter Mandy; Jean’s son Robert Dale
expanded the company throughout the UK offering ‘Premium Party Foods’.

Our founding principle has always been to make excellent products that show our passion for outstanding
quality in a characteristic Frank Dale style that adds something special; hand-made with the finest
ingredients to our own Truly British Recipes.

In March 2012 Rob dreamed up the concept of the DIAMOND STANDARD to become the company’s code
of practice and a ‘Measure of Excellence’,

This ensures our decisions and actions are protected by the five founding principles of how our brand
operates:
       Outstanding Quality
       Uniqueness and Innovation
       Integrity
       Passion for People
       Service

The DIAMOND STANDARD is the company’s commitment to track the quality of new and existing products
and maintain manufacturing consistency by awarding each product with a medal standard. This will be our
team’s constant motivation for improvement.

We love research and development and our goal is to always offer consumers excellent
Products. The Diamond Code of Practice will guarantee our success, brought about by holding regular
taste panels to benchmark against measurable, verifiable specifications.

We must not forget that a company like ours, (which has undergone extraordinary expansion) should be
committed and determined to collectively protect our core values. The Diamond Code of Practice is our
opportunity to honour Jean’s well-established excellence and act as a guide that will allow future teams to
continue to build the business to new heights.

We have been very fortunate to have various opportunities to grow Frank Dale and as predicted sales have
grown rapidly.

Frank Dale strives to bring outstanding quality; whilst the passion, dedication and entrepreneurial spirit of
my team have set us apart from the competition. We are and will continue to deliver high quality branded
premium party foods throughout the United Kingdom.

I am proud to introduce my new DIAMOND STANDARD and announce the launch of this new quality
system to become a ‘Measure of Excellence’ for all our products. This unique idea was conceived and
designed to consistently maintain outstanding quality standards throughout our manufacturing process.
With the assistance of my team we aim to gather practical ideas to achieve improvement and the
transition from good to great, critical to our success in this evolving competitive industry.
Developed through in-depth research with our team and industry professionals, the Diamond Standard will
tackle challenges in Product Development, Procurement, Material Sourcing, Quality Assurance and
Manufacturing, effectively collaborating with passionate British suppliers that generate quality and real
value in the supply chain.

We are committed to working closely with the workforce to ensure the delivery of quality standards at all
stages. At the end of the day, it is in everybody's best interest to have an effective quality standard to
ensure that our products are successful.

Our dedication to managing quality and capitalizing on the benefits of working with my people is
imperative to maintaining our leading role in premium party foods. I'm excited to be able to bring together
so many smart minds and the DIAMIOND STANDARD enabling everyone to share the same goal of helping
shape the future of Frank Dale we are all so passionate about.

Diamond Knowledge Requirements
This section provides background information for the knowledge requirements for QA participants and
new people joining the company to understand how Frank Dale vote Diamond Standard on our products.

Outstanding Quality Introduction
Whatever is produced in our factory, ‘Outstanding Quality’ must be produced to a laid-down standard and
packaged in the correct way. Outstanding Quality is one of the five core values of Frank Dale Foods. To do
this, Diamond Quality Checks are carried out at each stage of the production process. There will be quality
controllers who carry out checks during manufacture, but every member of staff has a responsibility to
make sure that the product is correct.
To be able to meet Diamond Quality Standards, we need to be able to:
follow factory quality checking methods and procedures and record results
        check products against photo standards
take the necessary action to maintain product quality

The Diamond Taste Panel
These panels are organized to ensure that the required Diamond Standard is met. Customers will not be
satisfied with the products that have been bought if the quality standards are not achieved and this could
result in complaints and loss of sales.

Outstanding Quality – ‘Measure of Excellence’
Enthusiasm for the ‘Frank Dale Way’; hand-made with the finest ingredients to our own Truly British
Recipes. “Be proud as a team of what your making” JE Dale
The foundation of Frank Dale’s success is our ‘Diamond Standard’ which is used as a measure of
excellence to ensure products are free from defects and variations, brought about by holding regular taste
panels to benchmark against measurable, verifiable specifications. We aim to achieve consistency of each
& every pack we make so we always satisfy customer requirements.
Our Outstanding quality is about; creative, hand-crafted, innovation, a constant pursuit of excellence to
achieve robust flavours, great textures, first class appearance & presentation. Each new product should
add something special. We strive to integrate special hand-made features and characteristics into our
product, that’s what we call the ‘Frank Dale Way’.
Meanings of ‘quality’
Of the many meanings of the word ‘quality’, two are of critical importance to managing for quality:
        1. ‘Quality’ means features of products that meet customer needs and thereby provide customer
satisfaction. In this sense, the meaning of quality is oriented to income. The purpose of such higher quality
is to provide greater customer satisfaction and, one hopes, to increase income. However, providing more
and/or better-quality features usually requires an investment and hence usually involves increases in costs.
Higher quality in this sense usually costs more.
        2. ‘Quality’ means freedom from deficiencies — freedom from errors that require doing work over
again (rework) or that result in field failures, customer dissatisfaction, customer claims, and so on. In this
sense, the meaning of quality is oriented to costs, and higher quality usually costs less.

Quality
The quality of the products you are involved in making is everyone’s business, and everyone has a part to
play to make sure that the Diamond Standards are met.
Producing a good product at all times will mean:
    1. Satisfied external customers that are the recipients of Frank Dale products we produce
    2. New business and development of existing business
    3. Job security for all and job satisfaction

What do we mean by quality?
Quality means the standard or fitness for purpose of a product. Often, we buy the same things because we
expect them to always look and taste the same. This is called ‘brand loyalty’. By sticking to the same brand,
we know what to expect and are usually satisfied with what we have bought.
Quality means meeting a given standard all the time. This means the product will always look and taste the
same.
The product made during the first shift on the first day of the working week must be of the same standard
as that made during the last shift on the last day of the working week.
Frank Dale have methods and procedures to make sure that their products always look and taste the same.
These include:
        What goes into the product
        How the pre-mixes are made
        How the product is made
        How the product is packed
