• Ján Vagač sa narodil roku 1759 v Starej Turej.
• Občas počas svojich ciest prespával na salašoch. Bačovia ho
poznali a vždy mu ponúkli syr. Pre chuť sa ho rozhodol
obchodne využiť. Zo svojich ciest vedel, že rumunskí Valaši
spracovávajú syr na bryndzu. Poznal jej chuť, ale nevedel ako
ju vyrábajú. Preto začal po návrate z ciest doma v Starej
Turej robiť pokusy s bochníkmi syra, dokiaľ nemali takú
chuť, ktorú si pamätal z Valašska.
• Obchodníci zo Starej Turej chodili po slovenských župách a
nakupovali dobytok a maslo. Maslo doma stopili a plnili do
súdkov a tieto ďalej vozili do veľkých miest v rakúskej ríši
- do Viedne, Bratislavy, Budapešti a inde. Ako pozornosť
dávali aj trochu Vagačovej bryndze.

bryndze v Detve. Spočiatku ju
vyrábal len v lete, keď sa dojili
ovce. Hovorilo sa jej "šnajdka".
• Po jeho smrti v roku 1835 sa
výrobňa predávala v rámci rodiny
z generácie na generáciu až do
roku 1948, kedy bola znárodnená.
