Desk n' Desk, located in Soho, Brooklyn, and Queens, and
now, San Diego, at the Carlsbad Westfield Plaza Camino
Real shopping center, opened their first West Coast store
after astonishing success in the Big Apple. With
ergonomically designed plastic, glass, and wood pieces
designed by leading European manufacturers, Desk ‘n Desk
offers office chairs with racing stripes, fluorescent colors,
and Italian rocking mechanisms. The tempered unbreakable
glass, wood, and plastic computer desks, filing cabinets,
bookcases, lamps, mirrors, stands and shelving units for
audio and video and CD storage comes very close to the
furniture from the TV cartoon, “The Jetsons.”

2. Located on the upper level between Robinson’s May and JC
Penny, the space age designs will appeal to all ages and all
businesses. As Desk’ n Desk invades the west coast market;
home businesses continue to increase, as does the demand
for home office furniture, a billion dollar business.
“I just remodeled my childcare area in…Fitness Elite, said
Tristen Dannemiller, owner of Fitness Elite for Women, and I
liked their furniture. We needed storage cabinets for videos,
and places for play stations and televisions. The cubbies are
very popular with children for storing shoes and stuff, but
my clients are so enamored with the childcare because it
looks like a family room.”
“Now, I’m redoing my Pilates room, and I’m ordering

The store offers heavy-duty stands for giant screen TVs,

Located in the El Camino Real Shopping Center in Carlsbad,
store managers, husband and wife team Victoria and Andrey
hail from Brooklyn and find San Diego to be ‘one big village
with a nice climate.’ Andrey, an industrial designer and
wood sculptor will customize and assemble the furniture for
minimal charges. Desk n’ Desk is planning two more San
Diego stores, and imports furniture designs from all over the
world, including Taiwan. The furniture retailer is part of a
growing chain to aid the computer geeks and multimedia
aficionados in search of compact, classic, and techno design.

3. With space a premium in most households, the computer
and media equipment presents style challenges. While Desk
n Desk provides offices with their needs, Andrey said “ we
start working with individuals…” the computer companies,
Gateway, Apple, and Millennium refer their customers to
us…and, some people want ‘country’ and some want
contemporary so we offer a choice. “ Also available in Desk n

provided by Fellows, Inc.
There’s a strong appeal for the kids, said Victoria, pointing
to a fluorescent orange computer desk that might clash or
match their Mac computer. Parents like it because it is
