Arduino & Desire Lines

      DAT 301 Realtime
 Stuart, Ian, Joe, Austin, Jodie
TASK

• Split into groups

• Using Arduino, design and Build Basic
  working prototype

• Incorporate a concept from the DAT 301
  Realtime Module
CONCEPT
• After initial discussion and ideas we
arrived at a concept of Eco Friendliness

• That concept changed after research into
  desire lines

• Lines that are developed over time by
human and animal footfall. They typically
represent the shortest or most easily
navigated route from one point to another.
Inspiration
               Gaston Bachelard
Dedicated to the study of the poetry and
philosophy of science, Bachelard’s 1958 book
“The Poetics of Space” looks not at the origins
or technicalities of architecture, but how the
lived-in and human experience of architecture
      affects and shapes it’s development.
Examples
Project Overview
• The aim was to make people aware of Desire
  Lines
• Using Arduino place sensors around
  prominent existing Desire paths
• Using Code and animation show the results of
prohibiting the use of Desire lines/Paths
