About Delamere Forest Park

Delamere Forest comprises over 950 hectares of mixed deciduous and evergreen forest, open
grassland and wetlands.

It is the largest wooded area in Cheshire and lies within the Mersey Forest.

Blakemere Moss is an excellent habitat for a wide variety of wildlife and is particularly popular with
ornithologists. Delamere offers the complete day out for all the family, with a wide range of
facilities.

By Train - the nearest railway station is at Delamere Station which is approximately a 5 minute walk
from Linmere Discovery Centre. Hourly trains run to Delamere from:
Manchester – 1hour
Liverpool – 1 ¼ hours
Chester – 15mins
Crewe – 50mins

How to get there
From M53 and Chester:




On M53 toward Chester / North Wales the road name changes to A55.
At next junction take slip road left.
At roundabout, take 1st exit onto A51 / Tarvin Road.
At the next roundabout, take 2nd exit onto A54 / Holme Street.
Keep straight onto A556 / Chester Road for just over 1mile
By the Royal Vale Abbey Pub, turn left onto B5152 / Station Road.
After just over a mile, turn left onto Forest Farm Road.
Continue over the bridge and the Linmere Car Park is on the right.

Car Parking Charges & Passes

Linmere Car Park is adjacent to the information centre, toilets, picnic area, learning centre, cycle hire
and café.
It has designated spaces for visitors with disabilities and is close to the start point for all the trails.
It is essential that visitors make use of the car parks and do not obstruct traffic by parking on
roadsides or in front of barriers.

You have 3 parking options:
1. Pay each time you train. This will cost on average £4.00 per Sunday visit

2. Buy a Quarterly Run In England Parking Pass for £10.00. Average of £1.00 per Sunday visit

3. Buy an annual Forestry Commission Discovery Pass for £30.00. Average of £0.06 per Sunday visit




Discovery Passes, which include free parking along with a range of other discounts and benefits, can
be purchased from the information centre at a cost of £30. This money is used to help support the
work of the Forestry Commission and to keep the forest maintained for public enjoyment.

N.B. If on your first visit to the Delamere Training Groups, you buy a parking ticket from the machine
in the car park, you can redeem that ticket value off the cost of the quarterly Run in England Pass or
the annual Discovery Pass in the Information centre.
